Nilsson Schmilsson album for sale Product Description
Nilsson Schmilsson album for sale by Harry Nilsson was released Aug 15, 2000 on the Camden label. This new version of CAMDEN features eight bonus tracks and previously unreleased demo songs by Harry Nilsson. Produced by Barbara Streisand's producer Richard Perry, 1971's NILSSON SCHMILSSON retains all of Harry Nilsson's wonderful songwriting and warm singing, but presents them in a decidedly rock-based setting. Nilsson's decision to combine his quirky, tongue-in-cheek Tin Pan Alley aesthetic with rock arrangements proved to be a successful one, and contributions from a stellar cast of British and American studio regulars didn't hurt either. Nilsson Schmilsson CD music contains a single disc with 18 songs. ...See Full Description

need i say more? possibly one of the greatest albums ever put out in the 70's era By rclousing (Upstate NY) This review is for a different format.
Eccentric genius OK, so some of the songs sound a little outdated, after all the album is 40 years old; but the remastering is excellent and admit it, you still like the "coconut" song, don't you? Nilsson was one of America's finest vocalists with incredible phrasing and range. By Steve G (NYC, NY) This review is for a different format.
Harry Nilsson I enjoy the music very much. He's a gifted singer/song writer. By a reviewer (Great Falls, MT, USA) This review is for a different format.
Great music, great recording! This selection sounded really good on album when it was released in the '70's, but the original cd version had only average sound. By gregory (Raymore, MO, USA) This review is for a different format.
Surround sound Wonderful album. Pity this album isn't released (yet?) in a surround mix. I remember the four-channel mix from the 70's. By mats.lindgren (Sweden) This review is for a different format.

Mike Bloomfield / Bloomfield-Kooper-Stills / Al Kooper / Stephen Stills Super Session CD (1968) Top Seller
Nilsson Schmilsson CD music A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands might have resulted in simple noodling. In fact, although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the other), all three principals get off lots of good licks and producer Kooper has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, as in the over-the-top phasing he lavishes on "You Don't Love Me." The only real disappointment here is that Stills, a far better singer than Kooper, never opens his mouth.
Those familiar with the Live Adventures album these two recorded at the Fillmore West know how brilliant they could be on stage, and here's another gem, recorded at the Fillmore East this time and featuring 'One Way Out,' 'It's My Own Fault' (with Bloomfield trading licks with Johnny Winter...Johnny was signed to Columbia after this gig!). Newly remastered & now with 4 bonus tracks, 'Albert's Shuffle' (2002 Remix w/o Horns), 'Season of the Witch.' (2002 Remix w/o Horns), 'Blues For Nothing' (Studio Outtake) & 'Fat Grey Cloud' Previously Unreleased Live Track). Features 12-page booklet with unpublished photos from the recording session, new liner notes by Al Kooper & the Rolling Stone Hall Of Fame review by David Fricke. 60 scintillating minutes! 13 tracks. Wishbone Ash Argus CD (1972) Top Seller
Nilsson Schmilsson album for sale On its third album, Wishbone Ash doesn't mess with its formula--as before, this long running British rock institution purveys a mix of blues, folk, and Yes- style riffs mated to endearingly cosmic lyrics. The songs here, however, are considerably more focused and well crafted than on the band's previous efforts, and the harmony singing is delightful.
As always, the band's basis is the tag team guitars of Andy Powell and Ted Turner. Fans of this duo's mix of Yardbirds- and Allman Brothers- style harmony licks and dueling solos will find much to admire here, particularly "The King Will Come" and "Time Was," a folk-ish epic in several contrasting sections. All in all, ARGUS is one of the best guitar albums of the early '70s.
Includes liner notes by Leon Tsilis.
Digitally remastered by Erik Kvortek.

Bonus Tracks; Remastered |
Nilsson Schmilsson songs Grand Funk Railroad's 1970 somewhat eponymous album, their second for Capitol, is characteristic of the classic rock radio sound that would permeate the airwaves of the late 20th century. Grand Funk Railroad was a seminal force in giving the friendlier side of the heavy rock sound its charm and making it stick. Built on fuzzed-out blues riffs, simple lyrics, and at times seemingly unnecessary jamming, Grand Funk's songs are mild in nature. Far less extreme than Black Sabbath, but slightly toothier than Foghat or Bad Company, Grand Funk's major influence is from the loose, blues-based power trio formula of bands such as Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Grand Funk combines rawness with radio-friendly melodies and vocal harmonies that would become their trademark sound. Hordes of bands to come, from Foreigner to Bon Jovi, would emulate Grand Funk's sound and style, focusing on good-time rocking material while attempting a few token social commentary pieces. This is a good album as far as early hard rock goes, and as Grand Funk Railroad would move farther and farther away from the type of roughness and loose arrangements found here, it is well worth picking up as an example of one of their early efforts. ~ Jeff Schwachter

Pandemonium Shadow Show/Aerial Ballet/Aerial Pandemonium Ballet CDs (2000) Top Seller
Nilsson Schmilsson album for sale Three albums by sui generis singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson are packaged on this two-disc set. PANDEMONIUM SHADOW SHOW and AERIAL BALLET are proper Nilsson releases, while the third, AERIAL PANDEMONIUM BALLET, is a remix album.
In 2000, Britain's RCA Camden line mounted an extensive Harry Nilsson reissue campaign, remastering the original albums, offering bonus tracks, and combining the LPs into two-fers where possible. His first two records were issued as part of a double disc set, with the first disc devoted to the two original albums and the second containing his remixed, re-re-recorded consolidation of the two, Aerial Pandemonium Ballet, plus four unreleased tracks, all of high quality. The remix album remains a bit bewildering and all the more so in this context, when it's possible to A-B it with the superior originals. And that's why this is worth seeking out for the curious and the faithful: the debut will still convert, and when you're converted, it's hard not to want to find all the differences between the first two and the remix record. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Three albums on two CDs. Featuring 'Pandemonium Shadow Show' (1967), 'Aerial Ballet' (1968) and 'Aerial Pandemonium Ballet' (The Remix Album) (1971).
