Heavy Metal rockers from the U.K., Saxon, present CRUSADER, featuring 10 tracks on this German import release.
It's hard to pinpoint the reasons for Saxon's gradual fall from stardom, but by the time they released 1984's Crusader, the band had obviously stopped leading the New Wave of British Heavy Metal with its aggressive biker anthems, and fallen in line behind Iron Maiden's epic historical themes and more complex song structures. It did them no good. Crusader was actually a slight improvement from the songwriting perspective, but reveals a band which obviously takes itself too seriously. In fact, they only really manage to rock out like the old days on a few tracks like "A Little Bit of What You Fancy" and "Bad Boys (Like to Rock'n'Roll)." ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
One of the best selling bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal issued this seventh album in 1984, their seventh studio opus. Features many anthems of rock & rebellion with typical Saxon mettle: the title track, 'Just Let Me Rock', 'Run For Your Lives' & seven more.
Saxon: Steve Dawson (bass guitar); Graham Oliver, Nigel Glockler, Paul Quinn , Biff Byford.
Personnel: Biff Byford (vocals); Graham Oliver, Paul Quinn (guitar); Nigel Glockler (drums).

Another winner An excellent album to get to know the band's music. From the opening chords of "Crusader", to the fists-in-the-air excitement of "Sailing to America". A bit commercial sounding if you compare it to other material from the band. "Do it all for you" delivers a Def Leppard approach to ballads and "Run for your Lives" is the type of song I want to hear driving in my car. Purchase Crusader CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Black Sabbath Master Of Reality CD (1971)
Crusader album
$8.69 The album's opening track, "Sweet Leaf," a salute to one of the band's favorite smokeable substances, contains one of metal's heaviest guitar riffs, courtesy of Tony Iommi. Another eternal band favorite is the grim, post-nuclear war tale "Children of the Grave." Vocalist Ozzy Osbourne is in fine voice on "After Forever" and "Lord of this World," while the more tranquil "Solitude" and the instrumental Iommi compositions "Embryo" and "Orchid" offer a bit of variety. Though not quite as influential as PARANOID, MASTER OF REALITY remains one of heavy metal's founding gems.
While other frontrunners of hard rock/metal like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple began dabbling in other musical forms (folk and string symphonies, respectively), Black Sabbath stuck close to its original direction ...

Crusader CD music
$8.65 While the title track is the album's best-known song, SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH proved to be another in a long line of 100% filler-free records from Ozzy and co. Highlights included the creepy "Who Are You?," plus the Tony Iommi riff-mongers "A National Acrobat," "Killing Yourself to Live," and "Sabra Cadabra," a song that Metallica would cover on its 1998 release GARAGE INC. You'll also find one of Sabbath's most haunting yet serene instrumentals, "Fluff," as well as the melodic album-closing rocker, "Spiral Architect." SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH is quintessential heavy metal.
1974's SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH is widely considered to be Black Sabbath's last true classic album. The musical experimentation that began on 1972's VOL. 4 was continued here, but this ...
| | Black Sabbath Never Say Die! CD (1978)
Crusader music CDs
$6.09 By the end of the '70s, though Black Sabbath remained a top concert draw, its albums had become increasingly erratic and sub-par when compared to its earlier master works. Singer Ozzy Osbourne's growing disillusionment with the band had reached a boiling point, especially after it took so long to complete 1978's NEVER SAY DIE, the original line-up's final album. Though the album's title might suggest that the band had reconciled its differences (Osbourne had already left the band once previously, only to return shortly afterwards), the turmoil spilled over onto the recording.
The album-opening title track remains the record's best-known track, as it was featured on Ozzy's popular 1982 solo live album of Sabbath material, SPEAK OF THE DEVIL. Other hard rockers on the first half of the album, such as "Junior's Eyes" and "A Hard Road" prove to be standouts. The final deciding factor for Ozzy's permanent ...
| | Saxon Power & The Glory CD (1983) Remastered
Crusader songs
$9.55 POWER & THE GLORY is a 1983 album by the British heavy metal band Saxon.
After their first significant hiatus, the members of Saxon (including new drummer Nigel Glockler) returned to the studio to work on Power & the Glory, an album which sounds like it was recorded in a tin can, albeit a very large one. The title track shows some promise, but it's all downhill from there, culminating in the six-minute-plus, strangely prog-metal sounds of "The Eagle Has Landed." There is also a noticeable lyrical shift towards "dungeons and dragons" themes, though the band had the sense of retaining at least ...
| | Saxon Wheels Of Steel CD (1980) (Import) Germany
Crusader album
$9.69 The new wave of British heavy metal that dawned along with the 1980s yielded heavier and more popular bands than Saxon (Iron Maiden and Def Leppard, to name just two), but anyone who listens to their second album, WHEELS OF STEEL, will recognize the origins of what came to be the dominant style of FM radio metal for over a decade. Combining the muscle of Black Sabbath with the nimble, twisting two-guitar attack of Thin Lizzy, Saxon helped create the template for British "power metal." Its driving rhythms and wailing theatrical vocals may have eventually become the norm, but in 1980 WHEELS OF STEEL was a shiny chrome beast of an album, and without precedent. Songs such as "Motorcycle Man" and "Freeway Mad" are the soundtrack for outlaw biker parties on both sides of the ...

| | War World Is A Ghetto CD (1972)
Crusader music CDs
$8.85 On THE WORLD IS A GHETTO, War's artistic vision moves one step beyond the preceding ALL DAY MUSIC. The band's multicultural musical stew is better blended, the social commentary of its lyrics more pointed, and its grooves are tighter and meaner. As the title indicates, THE WORLD IS A GHETTO is a dark album, but in the best possible sense--deep, thick beats predominate, as on the alternately punchy and dreamy title cut and the hypnotic "Four Cornered Room." The irresistible "The Cisco Kid" marries a slow Latin rhythm to pulsing funk on a song about the 1950s television hero, and the lively combination sent the tune up the charts. The syncopated backbeat to the New Orleans-flavored "Where Was You At" is infectious, while "City, Country, City" is an extended instrumental that allows each band member to stretch out with Latin, R&B, and jazz-inspired improvisations. One of the best-selling albums of '73, this disc is arguably War's finest.

| | Cathedral Ethereal Mirror CD (1993)
Crusader songs
$14.05 The reissue of THE ETHEREAL MIRROR is part of RED's Welcome Home campaign and includes previously unreleased tracks.
Cathedral's second full-length album, The Ethereal Mirror, finds the group experimenting a bit with new sounds on their path to discovering the patented sound they would polish on succeeding releases. Hints of their lumbering doom sound from Forest of Equilibrium characterize songs such as "Phantasmagoria," but for the most part Cathedral picks up the pace and instills a welcome sense of groove into their monolithic guitar riffs. Two songs from the album in particular stand out due to their up-beat tempos: the anthemic opener, "Ride," and the metal-disco of "Midnight Mountain." These two songs aren't up-tempo in the sense of death metal or grindcore, but they actually owe a lot to late '60s and early '70s hard rock anthems such as Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild" and Black Sabbath's "Supernaut." Singer/lyricist Lee Dorrian's background as a member of the U.K.'s grindcore movement in the late '80s and the ultra-heavy guitar tones of the group elevates songs such as "Ride" above generic proto-heavy metal recycling. Dorrian's voice sounds unlike traditional rock vocalists as he tries his best to sing despite the grave darkness remaining from his past as a growling madman in Napalm Death. ...
