(2 Customer Reviews)
This remastered collection of the Sons of the Pioneers' 1950s Western tunes is highlighted by such tunes as "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky."
The preeminent vocal group on the "western" side of country & western, the cowboy balladeers Sons of the Pioneers began in the 1930s, but one of their most popular albums was this 1959 release. It was recorded to exploit the then-new "Living Stereo" recording technology RCA had developed, and it features re-recorded versions of some of the band's best-known material, with added pop-orchestral accompaniment and crisp, hi-fi engineering. Not for country purists, but surely a classic pop record.
Deleted in the U.S.! Digitally remastered edition of the western classic from this most western of western bands. The Sons Of The Pioneers keep the spirit of the west alive and vibrant. This edition updates the sound of the original 1959 issue from RCA Record's "Living Stereo" series to the delight of fans that have worn down the grooves of their original vinyl record and features the album's original 18 track. Includes 'Tumbling Tumbleweeds', 'Whoopie Ti-Yi-Yo', 'Red River Valley' and more. Sony/BMG. Cool Water (& 17 Timeless Favorites) Music Cool Water (& 17 Timeless Favorites) Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) A Classic Album of Western Classics This album captures the Pioneers at the very height of the powers of the trio of Lloyd Perryman (tenor), Dale Warren (lead), and Tommy Doss (baritone and frequently mistaken for Bob Nolan, who had retired from the Pioneers). They would make several other wonderful albums in the 1960's, but the Cool Water album is outstanding for its complete attention to western classics. The marvelous bass voice, as many recognize, is that of Thurl Ravenscroft (the voice for Tony the Tiger and also for many other noted voice-over roles). Long-time Pioneer fans know that over the years there have been several eras of the group's sound, depending on who made up the trio at the time, and fans sometimes have lively arguments about which sound is the "real" Pioneer sound. One doesn't have to settle that argument to say that the Perryman-Warren-Doss trio consistently gave us the best western recordings of the 1960's, and this album is worth every penny you pay for it. The group's best collection The Sons of the Pioneers had many personnel changes over the years, but I believe this album showcases the group when they truly sounded like the Pioneers. With Bob Nolan and whoever that killer base was. Submitted by richard_irma (Independence, MO,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful.

$12.69 The days of the old "Country Cowboy" are vanishing. 32 Below is bringing the new age of country music & people love what they hear. 32 Below is on a mission to change the redundent Nashville cookie cutter industry. With a very high energy show that will rival any of todays rock shows to ballads that any music lover could embrace. 32 Below hit the ground running in December of 2001 and they see no signs of slowing down. The group is made up of 5 very talented young guys who absolutely love what they do, and it shows onstage. They love to have a good time, and they make sure their audience does too. 32 Below has headlined thier own shows as well as opened for National Acts like Sawyer Brown, Heart, Trick Pony, Montgomery Gentry, Lonestar, Jamie O'Neal, Craig Morgan, Cowboy Troy and Steve Azar. In 2006, 32 Below started to out sell some National Acts that played the same venues. No longer able to play the local ND/MN clubs that they started in, they now have to promote their own shows at 2,000+ seat venues. Also, it's not uncommon ...
