| A true classic This is a absolutely the best version of Christmas carol that was ever made. Allistair Sims puts on a wonderous performance as Scrooge. And to get both colour and B/W on one dvd "amazing" Grab this one while it is still available. Watching this movie should be a family tradition for everyone both young and old. | The best "Scrooge" ever! Alistair Sim is indeed the best actor ever to have played the role of "Scrooge" in Charles Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol" This DVD is great. The clarity of the movie as well as the sound have been greatly improved from the VHS version. On this special edition you get to see the original black and white version as well as a colorized version that is so well done that it makes you see more details. Even though Alistair Sim was born in 1900 and died in 1976, he is still the very best to watch at Christmas time. By carole.duf (Montreal, Canada) |
| The Best Version Still Versions of the "Christmas Carol" come and go, but this is still the best. The cast (especially Alistair Sim) are all as perfect as the sets and lighting. This rendition has just the right touch of darkness necessary to make Scrooge's redemption all the more delightful when it comes. The camerawork is so rich in black and white that the colorized version (also on this DVD) should be avoided at all costs. Top notch! By Roger (New York City) |
| Alistair Sim Outstanding Alastair Sim's performance alone makes this more than worth the time it takes to watch. Obviously, the technology and general performances are somewhat dated, but no one can hope to compare with Sim's portrayal of Ebeneezer Scrooge. The unbridled delight and joy he displays after his "rebirth" is a marvel to observe. This was likely the inspiration for Ron Moody's inspired performance as Fagan in "Oliver" in 1968. All in all, an annual Christmas "must-see." By lprather (Atlanta, GA, USA) |
| A Classic Story -- a Classic Movie One of the best films ever made... Alister Simms is the best Scrooge (pardon the pun) ever! This classic tale becomes a classic movie... if you own just a couple of Christmas films, this should/must be one of them. By FURCLAN (Harker Heights, TX, USA) |
