This 100 minute documentary film is based on the best-selli ng book by Erich Von Daniken. Documentation on film is Dani ken's stunning visual proof that some form of life from out er space landed on Earth centuries before. A film documentation of Eric Von Daniken's belief that extra-terrestrial creatures visited earth and were responsible for the many structures which were built by ancient man. Oldie but goodie Haven't seen this movie for many years. It was great to view it again and the music is excellent. Bit old for the times now but still interesting. thanks Submitted by burrumbella (NSW - Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Origin of Ancient Civiliztions The movie attempts to explain various ancient stone monuments (e.g. pyramids of Egypt & South America) as structures built by extraterrestrials in ancient times. Whether you beleive this or not, some very interesting facts are revealed. Like a 40,000 yr old bison with a bullet hole in its skull, a 2500 yr old battery in Iraq, a polished lens 2,000 yrs old etc. The movie is worth seeing just for these facts alone. Chariots Of The Gods video
$6.49 Possessing metal pipes like few before him, leonine Steelheart yelper Michael Matijevic scarred the airwaves forever when he hammered the simply unmatchable chorus of the hairball "I'll Never Let You Go": ludicrous and sublime, akin to Whitney Houston hitting the hot spot in "I Will Always Love You." The opening strands of "Everybody Loves Eileen" bring Ratt out of the cellar before the cut curls into a pop n' fresh roller coaster ride. The remainders on this ridiculous dish are also overlong examples of excess but not as memorable, paying homage to Whitesnake and other flailing stylistic ventures. "I'll Never Let You Go" is available on some quality collections and no aficionado of poodle pomp should let that song go, otherwise leave Steelheart in peace with the music it helped lay to rest. ~ Doug Stone
Possessing metal pipes like few before him, the leonine Steelheart yelper Michael Matijevic scarred the airwaves forever when he hammered the simply unmatchable chorus of the hairball "I'll Never Let You Go." Chariots Of The Gods review
$9.69 Like her previous films VANITY FAIR, MONSOON WEDDING, and HBO's HYSTERICAL BLINDNESS, Mira Nair's THE NAMESAKE is a lush, beautiful film bursting with rich color and visual texture. Based on the bestselling book by Jhumpa Lahiri, the film follows two generations of the Ganguli family. After wedding via an arranged marriage, Ashima (Tabu) moves with Ashoke (Irrfan Khan) from her native Calcutta to New York. As Ashima struggles to adjust to life in her new home, a true love grows between the newlyweds. When they give birth to Gogol (who does not learn the true origin of his name until adulthood), the Gangolis decide to stay in American for their child's sake, settling in the suburbs and eventually giving birth to a daughter, Sonia (Sahira Nair). While Ashima and Ashoke attempt to balance their new life with Indian traditions, their children have the very different experience of being raised first-generation Americans. With little interest in their ancestry, both Gogol and Sonia disappoint their parents by having little respect for the sacrifices their parents made for them. Gogol's desire to change his name, and his relationship with a wealthy American girl (Jacinda Barrett), places a strain on the family which Gogol will later regret.
Here, Penn proves he can play a serious role while still using his comedic skills to great affect. The actor shows impressive range in growing a clueless teen to a man his father would be proud of. Nair's skill at directing can be felt in the film's many great performances. Both Tabu and Irrfan Khan embody their characters so fully that the viewer ...
