Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles; Director's Comments; Behind The Scenes Ice Cube makes his directorial debut with this comedy about the inhabitants and employees of a steamy Los Angeles strip club. Surprisingly moralistic, this sexy drama surrounds a woman who attempts to make the money, while not allowing the money to make her. Bernie Mac shines as the proprietor of the nightclub. Players Club Reviews: "...Enjoyable comic turns...well-directed scenes....THE PLAYERS CLUB is an impressive screen debut for a number of its players..."-- Linda Ruth Williams, Sight and Sound "...Lisa-Raye makes a sensational debut....[The] seedy, supersaturated color schemes bleed beautifully..." -- Rating: B+
-- Bruce Fretts, Entertainment Weekly "...There's a lot to be said for Cube's care in balancing the sweet and sour elements of his narrative....He's a player for sure..."
-- Gene Seymour, Los Angeles Times "...Ice Cube makes THE PLAYERS CLUB observant and insightful....The movie is sophisticated about its people and places..."

Raunchy strip bar comedy set in urban St Louis Funny sub part appearances by Jamie Fox and veteran John Amos, make up for this films marginal acting by new comer Lisa Raye. Bernie Mac's protrayal of the weasel- owner of the club "Dollar", is amusing. The cinematography is good and this is one of the few films by the rapper Ice Cube that's worth sitting through for the 103 minutes, if not for the generous amounts of T&A and gag humor. very sharp film-intelligent in its design and delivery Ice Cube, did an exellent job, he also wrote the film as well. Lisa Raye, is a joy to watch, very very believable, she deserves to be in more films, A-list films. The characters were well thought out, very humorous, Dollar Bill was great! And Jamie Foxx, was very funny and charming. Crystal (Diamond's arch nemesis) did a good job too, very domineering, she played her part well, it was cool to see Charlie Murphy as well. Very good movie, an urban classic. Submitted by David (Cleveland, OH, Usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Players Club review
$7.95 In the midst of a 1962 pleasure cruise, the passengers and crew of Italian luxury liner the Antonia Graza are systematically slaughtered and left in pieces by a gang of terrorists. Forty years later, the ship is spotted drifting in the Bering sea. Fresh off a six-month journey, an Alaska-based seafaring salvage team lead by Murphy (Gabriel Byrne) and Epps (Julianna Margulies) are approached by a Canadian weather spotter (Desmond Harrington) who noticed the derelict vessel on a flyover. Tempted by the possibility of untold riches, the crew takes on the job of tracking down the ship. Once aboard though, strange things start to happen, beginning with Epps's sighting of the ghost of a little girl. After the team finds a cache of gold, all hell breaks loose, and the angry ghosts make themselves known--and begin destroying the intruders one by one.
Purely and simply a floating haunted house tale, GHOST SHIP is a creepy thrill ride that compensates for its lack of originality with some creepy art direction and a number ...

| | Deep Purple - Burn: A Critical Review DVD (1974) DTS Sound
Players Club review
$16.65 Deep Purple's 1974 album BURN was a return to form following the less-successful previous record, WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE, and was marked by the departure of Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover. They were replaced by David Coverdale and ex-Trapeze bassist Glenn Hughes, who do double-duty on vocals and inject the group with a new vitality. The album marked a period of creative fertility and exciting breakthroughs for the band, and here, 30 years after its release, Glen Hughes joins a panel of critics and musicians to discuss the legendary album in all its aspects and import. With rare footage and radio broadcasts from tours in the UK ...
