With subject matter somehow outdoing both the performances and recording quality in terms of crudeness (no mean feat), Freaks, Faggots, Drunks & Junkies may be the definitive G.G. Allin album, if for no other reason than that it marks the first appearance of many Allin songs that have since been endlessly repackaged on compilations and live recordings. Allin jumps unpredictably from discussions of drugs, violence, and excretory functions to sexual fetishes ranging from the simply degrading to rape, pedophilia, and "anti social masterbation" [sic]. Most intentionally shocking stuff like this comes off as forced and stupid, but the defective Allin's obvious instability renders it unforced and stupid. Tunes like "Die When You Die," "Last in Line for the Gang Bang," "Young Little Meat," "Suck My Ass It Smells," and signature song "Outlaw Scumfuc" are enough to shake anyone's faith in humanity down to its very foundations. Allin's entire output ranks as perhaps the worst music ever recorded; this is its clearest expression. ~ Steve Huey
Personnel: G.G. Allin (vocals); Johnny X (guitar); Dork (keyboards).
Recording information: The Lab, Manchester, NH.

Zero musical talent whatsoever, however you care to define the word. His delivery consists entirely of hollering and screaming. His lyrics are nothing but shock-value for its own sake, and not a bit more. One star for his occasional lapses into real humor (however intentionally gross it may be). Other than that, and a first-time listen for sheer novelty value, this man and his music were completely worthless. Submitted by Jim (Milwaukee) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
My favorite Punk album!!! GG was hardly known for his soothing, soulful voice or his tactful manner. That's a given, but if you have any doubt about the raw emotion and sheer heart that GG put into this album, then you have no business reviewing this or any true Punk album. Go review Green Day! some people are dumb ok, first off, look at the history of G.G. was he a musical prodigy? NO!
G.G. was the greatest example of what punk rock should be like. so if you say he sucks than you obviously dont know the first thing about punk.

Sucks... I would rather listen to a jackhammer at work than this crappy CD. GG was the ultimate loser and his music should have died with him. Submitted by Scotty (Buffalo Grove, IL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Freaks, Faggots, Drunks & Junkies album
$13.79 Perhaps the quintessential California punk band, and one of the founding fathers of hardcore, Black Flag is to America what the Sex Pistols are to the U.K. DAMAGED is the band's most loved album, featuring some of its best-known songs. Though the group's speedy, full-frontal assault laid the groundwork for the faster-and-louder generation of punks to come, the guitar interplay of Greg Ginn and Dez Cadena is ...
| | G G Allin Hated In The Nation CD (1987) Bonus Tracks; Reissue
Freaks, Faggots, Drunks & Junkies CD music
$9.55 This is a compilation of live performances from various points in his career. Of course, it's missing a great deal of relevant information and the recording quality is crude. This is probably the best place to be introduced to the demented moron who made obscenity a political statement, as he was still possessed of an intelligible voice on these recordings. He can even carry a tune on the earlier tracks, unthinkable to those familiar only with his later work. His between-song banter with the audience is hilariously stupid. It features guest appearances from Dinosaur Jr.'s J. Mascis and MC5's Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thompson. Most of Allin's earlier recordings are out of print, so if you're a fan, find this. ~ Steve Huey
The 1998 re-release of G.G. Allin's most popular release, the compilation Hated in the Nation (originally issued in 1987), contains the same 18 tracks as the original but adds four bonus tracks, and replaces the original cover with a new one. The reissue was timed to coincide with the five-year anniversary of Allin's drug-induced death, and is the ultimate reminder of the menacing punk rock icon and the confrontational performances he became known for. G.G. Allin addicts will want to replace their original copy with the 1998 version ...
