Boris Karloff hosts this trilogy of supernatural tales: "A Drop of Water", "The Telephone", and "The Wurdalak". The latter story, about a blood-thirsty vampire, features Karloff himself. Italian horror master Mario Bava's spine-tingling 3-tale horror anthology. In the first tale, a woman steals a ring off of the finger of a corpse, only to be haunted by the angry spirit of the ring's owner. In the next tale, a woman is harassed by phone calls from the dead. Finally, Boris Karloff plays a vampire-like creature who feeds off the blood of its family. Filmed in Pathecolor.
The laserdisc edition is paired with the 1967 horror film "Black Sunday".

Black Sabbath Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Unwisely humorous Contrary to its director's opinion this probably isn't Bava's best work. While it's effective in places, it's often excessively-lit, contrived and artificial-looking - an uneven trilogy, enjoyable to some extent though hardly as chilling as its hype suggests. One of Bava's best For anyone who hasn't seen a Mario Bava film this is an excellent film to start with & for Bava fans or fans of Italian horror cinema this is an essential purchase. The three stories in this antholagy are superbly crafted, beautifully photographed segments which show Bava at his best. In particular "A drop of water" is one of the creepiest ghost/horror stories ever put on celluloid. The whole thing is even presented by the great Boris Karoff... What more could you ask? LAnguage I enjoy watching old flicks like this that I've never heard of,but I would have enjoyed this movie a lot more if it was in the English language or if they would have left the words on the screen long enough for me to able to read everything that was said. Excellent Euro Horror film and One of Bava's Best Mario Bava was way ahead of his time and many don't give him the reconition that he deserves. "Black Sabbath" is in my top five Bava's along with: Blood and Black Lace (1964), Twitch of the Death Nerve (1971), Black Sunday (1960), and my favorite Rabid Dogs (1974). I believe this is Bava's first directed film in colour and he takes full advantage with it.
Bright reds, cool blues and gloomy greens fill the screen. Bava is first and foremost atmosphere and style over dialogue but that is how most european horror films are like anyway.
This being an anthology film you would think that there would be atleast one week story but no. All stories are excellent espically the last one, "Drop of Water" which is one of the most frightning things I have ever seen in my life.
Pick up this movie right now and thank Image Entertainment for this beautiful transfer and for them putting the film in the original Italian language with subtitles.
