James Brown - Live From House Of Blues Movie Review Average Rating: (3.2 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Big disapointment Having seen The James Brown Show up close and live several times in the 1960's at The Howard Theater and other Washington DC Venues; and, Having played his music for years as a fan and a DJ, This video is a huge dissapointment. Don't put a copy of this in a time capsule. Let him be remembered in his greatness. This performance is best left unwatched. Submitted by mbusch101 (Washington, DC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? RE: JB / 1999 The Godfather of Soul is showing his years on this one. He cant hit those high notes anymore, or do the splits.
BUT...its still: The James Brown 'Show'. And its still The Man, giving his all.
The band is absolutely amazing! They can stop and turn on a dime.
The back-up singers and dancers are a joy.
The sound and video quality is great.
This was still, the hardest working man in show business, even into his 60's.
For you vintage fans, the dvd release of 'The TAMI Show' is upcoming.
Hopefully, more vintage performances will become available. The 'Soul Train' appearances would be awesome.
For now, out of all the JB dvds available, this one gets the most play at my house.

Nice Concert from The Godfather of Soul. The music selection is great, the band performance is really good, and James Brown deliver a pretty good performance. He is not young any more, but he know how to funk the world. My only complain is the very short time of the medleys on the setlist. Submitted by Angel (Denver, Colorado.) Was This Review Helpful? One of the better JB videos/DVDs He still won't do Money Won't Change You at least on recorded shows but this entry certainly has some alot of unexpected things: Gimme Some More (by the BitterSweet); If I Ruled The World; Soul Power; Papa Don't Take No Mess; Funk On Ah Roll. He sings and dances well and...it's James Brown! (Let's enjoy this program as we contemplate future rumoured releases of complete shows from the late '60s). Submitted by P.
