DVD. Feature film. Rated PG-13. CC. 95 min. A couple of luckless dreamers leave the small town of Perfection and cross the desert in search of odd jobs. Instead of a pot of gold, they find worms... humungous man-eating worms that tunnel underground and eat everything in sight, from men to automobiles. With quick thinking -- and a conveniently placed cement wall -- the duo outwit the hungry sand beasts. Back home they brag of their escape to the weird collection of townsfolk. A seismologist who just happens to be studying the area tells them there are lots more of the creatures hanging around. And, like everybody else, the worms are aiming for Perfection... The race to higher ground is on when two handymen and a local seismology student discover that their little town of Perfection, Nevada, is infested with stinky subterranean man-eating worms. Starring Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, and Michael Gross, TREMORS is a well-done comedy-horror film that salutes a host of horror films from bygone years. Fans of the movie will enjoy the sequels starring Gross: TREMORS 2: AFTERSHOCKS, TREMORS 3: BACK TO PERFECTION, and TREMORS 4: THE LEGEND BEGINS. The Signature Collection Letterboxed Edition laserdisc, catalog #42781, includes:

Tremors Reviews: 4 stars out of 5 -- "A cult B-movie creature feature....TREMORS is a hell of a lot of fun, a suspense-filled treat..."-- David Richardson, Ultimate DVD "...Filmgoers ravenous for classic scares should wiggle over to TREMORS. Not since ALIEN has there been a creature feature that so well honors the genre, plus throws in some squirm-producing twists..."
-- Susan Wloszczyna, USA Today "...A small, sardonic gem....Ward and Bacon make a marvelous Mutt-and-Jeff team..." -- Rating: B+-- Ty Burr, Entertainment Weekly "...A jocular good-time monster movie with surprises up its sleeve..."
-- Michael Wilmington, Los Angeles Times "...Engaging....The film benefits from laconic, salt-of-the-earth performances from Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon..."-- Geoffrey Macnab, Sight and Sound "...A great cast and a cheek full of tongue help to make this one of the most enjoyable monster movies since they were old enough to be ironic..."
-- John Walker, Total Film "TREMORS is a horror film with a heart; a monster movie with magic....It's a B-movie that has transcended its humble goal to entertain us -- instead, it's entranced us."

Tremors Movie Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) No thought required Just a good time for all. Sometimes you don't want to have to think about things. Sometimes all you want to do is sit back and laugh! Submitted by erutharu (La Mesa, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A Great Movie! I have seen this movie and also the other three in the series, and I was'nt dissapointed by any of them! They where completly funny! I mean, if you want to watch these for their 'horror', you should probably look somewhere else, because these are more comedy than horror. And in the fourth one, Brent Roam was completly wonderful! FAV of ALL time My all time favorite. A definite recommendation. Submitted by a reviewer (ßeaver State) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
CLASSIC This is one of my all time favorites! I have seen it over 50 times, have it memorized and even my 9-year old niece appreciate's this comedy! Often times she will come up to me and say, "C'mon Nancy, we gotta do somethin!" in that perfect Reba accent. The inside jokes last for years, me and my sister's favorite: Expert Woman. The thing that makes this movie so great is the characters, they are each unique and comical in their own right, you never get tired of them. You have to watch it a few times to appreciate all the tidbits of comedy here. Submitted by a reviewer (San Francisco, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful. Zaney spoof of '50s horror films - lots of fun! A fine cast (lead by Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward) and great direction provide zaney entertainment while having fun with a spoof of the horror films of the '50s. Reba McEntire and Michael Gross are particulary funny portraying survivalists enlisted in the battle with giant worms who try to eat everything in Nevada. Night Shyamalan's THE SIXTH SENSE, Bruce Willis plays Dr. Malcolm Crowe, a successful Philadelphia child psychologist who is haunted by the sudden reappearance and suicide of a former patient. As Dr. Crowe struggles to determine what torments Cole, he must also come to terms with his increasingly distant relationship to his wife (Olivia Williams). The scene where Cole finally tells Dr. Crowe about his supernatural secret is one of the 1990s most quoted and well-known cinematic moments.

| | Hunchback Of Notre Dame DVD (1957) Buena Vista Home Entertainment
Tremors DVD
$7.75 From its dramatic opening shots to its powerfully heart-wrenching climax, Jean Delannoy's spectacle THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME retells Victor Hugo's remarkable novel with gripping theatrical energy. It is 1492, in and around the imposing Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris, where the Festival of Fools has begun. Pierre Gringoire's play entitled "The Quest for Beauty" is being performed; which is ironic because during it, the hideous, hunchback bell-ringer Quasimoto (Anthony Quinn) is tormented and teased by a band of gypsies. Nothing can touch Quasimoto, though, as he is protected by Frollo, the Chief Justice. Frollo has his own problems, the worst being a pious conscience that keeps wrestling with an attraction to sexy gypsy dancer Esmerelda (Gina Lollobridgida). When Frollo sends Quasimoto to fetch Esmerelda for him, the poor hunchback only frightens her and gets arrested, sending Esmerelda into the arms of Phoebus, a confident, though dim-witted and smarmy, army captain. Esmerelda soon pities Quasimoto, attempting to sooth him as he is held in the gallows. But when Phoebus is stabbed to death, there seems to be little any of Esmerelda's admirers can do to prove her innocence. In this film about injustice, prejudice, and obsession, cinematographer Kelber's camerawork finds drama in every crevice, arch, and window of the cathedral itself, and Quinn is heartbreaking as the misunderstood hunchback.
