DVD Remaster is a Hit! We have always enjoyed this show to the point of wearing out the original VHS tape. The new DVD is sharper and has more "extras" than the VHS. Well worth the price! Submitted by marcoulter (Tulsa, OK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A Great Musical - Well Worth the Money If you like dancing (tap, clog, and ballet) along with Celtic music, this is for you. This musical has a very warm and wonder charm that makes you want to watch it again and again. Several times I found myself standing and applauding their performance in front of the TV. Great for family viewing! Submitted by bwayne (Lakewood, New Jersey) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
Captivating, riveting, hypnotic! I rented this video for a drama class and never wanted to return it! I just watched it over and over again! If I was in a bad mood I would fast forward until the part where the men are dancing their forceful dance, and if I was felling mellow I would fast forward to the scene in the "forest". If I was feeling romantic I would go to the scene where Michael dances with the blonde in the white dress. There are so many aspects to this video, and I would have loved to have seen it in person. I know it would have been twice, no, triple as impressive in person as it is on the TV screen. I recommend it highly. Submitted by a reviewer (Louisville, KY) Was This Review Helpful? $22.69 Mary Pickford was the first internationally recognized Hollywood star, becoming America's golden girl and capturing hearts across the globe. She was also an astute businesswoman, founding United Artists with Charlie Chaplin and her husband Douglas Fairbanks, and eventually becoming the highest-paid actor in Hollywood. HEART O' THE HILLS was the last film she would make for a distributor not her own, and marked a movement away from the childlike roles she had become known for. Pickford stars as Mavis Hawn, an Appalachian girl from Kentucky whose world is invaded by a land-grabbing villain (Sam DeGrasse) from the city. Mavis vows revenge for the tragedy inflicted upon her family, and along the way she falls in love with Jason Honeycutt (Harold Goodwin). Adapted from the best-selling novel by John Fox, Jr., the film is an often brutal depiction ...

Lord Of The Dance review
$10.19 Santiago Munez (Kuno Becker), an illegal Mexican immigrant living in Los Angeles, lives and breathes soccer, but seems destined to live his life as a day laborer. His father, Hernan (Tony Plana), a stern hardworking man, discourages Santiago from playing soccer, believing it is only a feckless fantasy. One day, a former British professional, Glen Foy, spots Santiago playing in a pickup game, and promises him a tryout for Newcastle United. With the support of his doting grandmother, Santiago travels to England, and finds himself in a world where "football" is king, and "footballers" are Gods. His path to soccer stardom is tortuous and paved with pitfalls. Santiago must overcome a terrible tryout, a secret asthma condition, and the animosity of some of his teammates. However, with the guidance of Glen, the love of a plucky and beautiful nurse (Anna Friel), and the unexpected support by Newcastle United's playboy star Gavin Harris (Alessandro Nivola), Santiago finally finds himself in a position to score a pivotal goal and live his dream.
GOAL! THE DREAM BEGINS contains many of the familiar tropes of the zero-to-hero sports story, but it rises above the clichés of the genre through the quality of the screenplay and the excellence of the acting. Each of the many minor roles is played to humble perfection, and the film artfully juggles dozens of subplots: Santiago's problematic involvement with troubled superstar Gavin Harris, his romance with Roz, his friendship with Glen, and his strained relationship with his father. The film proves to be full of subtle warmth and surprisingly moving. Thrilling matches--and cameos by such soccer luminaries as David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane--will certainly appeal to soccer fans, but GOAL!'s charming story will appeal to almost anyone.
