Criminally overlooked by academics, critics and purists who refuse to listening to anything outside of conventional jazz vernacular, Andy Bey's delivery on Experience and Judgment goes beyond anything he previously committed to tape, revealing a spiritual side that's punched up and supported by a jazz-funk ensemble. The album's opener "Celestial Blues" finds Bey delivering lines that wouldn't be out of place on Bill Withers records from this era, and the remainder of the album sounds similar to the works of such contemporaries as Roy Ayers and Gil Scott-Heron. It's soul soothing music that's been played with great reverence by the rare soul and funk community for years and rightly so, as Bey captures the essence of the soul world brilliantly, and fuses it into something that is uniquely his own. ~ Rob Theakston

$5.95 The frustrating truth about a lot of R&B and soul that's being made today is that everything tends to be so identi-kit that it's difficult to tell one label from another, one act from another. A soul act on Motown sounds like one on Epic sounds like one on Qwest -- all twinkling synthesizers, obnoxious drum machines doing the same programmed beats, all low smooth bass, all the same neatly arranged vocal harmonies. It's all very professional, all very formal, and one wonders, even with gospel acts like the Winans, whether there's any soul left after the ...

Experience And Judgment CD music
$15.19 The Chris Ho Band is a hot L.A. based group of best friends. The compositions are fresh, new and original works by Chris Ho, leader and pianist. The PICASSO BLUE cd charted in the top 40 of the national GAVIN REPORT and received great reviews in JAZZIZ, L.A. Music Scene and KEYBOARD MAGAZINE. PICASSO BLUE shows a more real jazz or straightahead side of the bands sound. It has fiery latin,up tempo jazz, some fusion and haunting ballads.Wayne Wayne is featured on saxes and flute. His playing has been described as "stellar" on several reviews!Dr. Matt van Benschoten plays all the basses including a Carruthers electric upright and Bossa 6 string basses. His lyricism and powerful rhythmic sense is legendary.John Balbuena lays the grooves down on many of the tracks and is not a bad soloist in his own right! One of Chris' favorite keyboardists, John is also a great friend and family man. There are 5 drummers on this cd including David Renick (original band member), Ralph Penland, Gary Q. Wing, Tony Lewis and Dan Potruch. All give stunning and memorable performances!!Special guest Karen Briggs is on Women In Art playing the violin. She has also worked with Yanni and Stanley Clarke! The version of PICASSO BLUE here at cdbaby.com is on RHOMBUS RECORDS. This is a limited edition, so buy your copy now!! The Chris Ho Band has other cds on MERRIMACK RECORDS also. In fact, MERRIMACK carries all of the Chris Ho catalogue! For more info, go to www.chrisho.com!Thank you very much and enjoy!!

Experience And Judgment music CDs
$18.55 Acoustic SenseAt times it can be a rather difficult task, trying to pin down something that isn’t easy to label or categorise and the music of “Acoustic Sense” seems to fit into this category. The band is crossing boundaries, literally speaking, a cultural melting pot with an outcome that is quite unique. In this respect “Acoustic Sense” didn’t come to life as an attempt to create yet another “World Band”, here we are rather dealing with musicians whose mutual attraction first and foremost is rooted in their musical abilities, along with a natural desire to communicate. The line-up consists of some of the finest instrumental performers coming out of Scandinavia: Danish guitarist John Sund, who delivers most of the repertoire, Serbian Gypsy accordion virtuoso Lelo Nika, Swedish cellist John Ehde, Ghanian percussionist Ayi Solomon and Danish double-bassist Morten Lundsby. On the bands musical journey you will wander through Nordic landscapes and then in the next moment be captivated by prime-music from an ‘African Village’. Balkan- and Gypsy-music melts together with jazz, Latin and earthy grooves. At times you’ll hear classical tones, due to cellist John Ehde, who with his classical background is among the few capable of uninhibited improvisation. In spite of all these fine remarks, we are most of all dealing with an orchestra of musicians, who play with their hearts, soul and nerve, combined with an enormous energy, which at times can be quite overwhelming. The bands debut-CD has received many fine words along the way, by various critics, but “Acoustic Sense” is most definite also a band that should be experienced at first hand: live in concert. The Musicians: John Sund (6 & 12 string guitar)Debuting at the age of 18 he was commissioned as a soloist together with the Danish Radio Big Band, led by Palle Mikkelborg, ...
