This 2-disc DVD set features 33 clips, live material and more. Includes "Rosalita," "Born to Run," "Born in the USA," "Glory Days," "My Hometown" and more! In 1989, a comprehensive collection of Bruce Springsteen's music videos, entitled VIDEO ANTHOLOGY 1978-1988, was released. The problem with greatest hits compilations, however, is that they are often premature. Fortunately, the forward thinkers at Sony Music have corrected this by releasing an expanded version of the anthology, which incorporates the Boss's videos from 1989 through 2000. During that time, the New Jersey-bred working-class hero began working heavily in the world of film, providing award-winning theme songs to realistic dramas such as DEAD MAN WALKING and PHILADELPHIA. Perhaps repaying the favor, the acclaimed directors of these films--Tim Robbins and Jonathan Demme--directed several of Bruce's videos, including the previously unreleased "If I Should Fall Behind," featuring each E Street Band member taking a turn at the mike. In addition, some of the earlier videos are helmed by equally important film directors Brian De Palma and John Sayles. This two-disc set features all of Bruce Springsteen's official music videos as well as alternate versions, live television appearances, concert versions, and never-before-shown videos. When Springsteen became part of the music-video surge of the mid-1980s, he did so with a vengeance, hiring Brian De Palma and John Sayles to direct him in such MTV staples as "Dancing in the Dark" (featuring an early appearance by Courteney Cox), "I'm on Fire," and "Glory Days," with the latter two featuring Springsteen doing some genuine acting. For his videos from TUNNEL OF LOVE, Springsteen turned to Meiert Avis, who had previously worked with U2, and they made, among others, a fascinating video for "Brilliant Disguise," which was done in one long, slow camera zoom on Springsteen sitting on a chair in a kitchen, singing live vocals. The first disc starts and ends with concert performances, going from "Rosalita" and "The River" to "Spare Parts" and the acoustic "Born to Run." The second disc begins with videos from the HUMAN TOUCH and LUCKY TOWN albums, followed by Springsteen's work with Jonathan Demme, Tim Robbins, and Sean Penn, including a 2000 performance of "If I Should Fall Behind," featuring each member of the E Street Band taking a turn at the mike. Taken as a whole, this collection is a terrific overview of Springsteen's work, from his early, crazier days to the later, more introspective work he has done since he has gotten married and had children.
This is the only Carol Dodds video. Stars also making their debut in this video: Arnold Levine, Arthur Rosato. Bruce Springsteen - Video Anthology 1978-2000 movie DVD
$13.39 This two-CD compilation, assembled from the Walker Brothers' three albums and various singles released by Philips between 1965 and 1967, gives a good overview of their U.K. history without limiting itself to their hits. The sound quality is good if not exceptional -- one gets the sense that another round of remastering would be in order (and while we're talking about sound, wouldn't one like to see a Mobile Fidelity reissue on the Walker Brothers or, for that matter, Scott Walker's best solo stuff?). And the track order isn't chronological -- their two best-known songs, which were not their first two U.K. singles -- occupy the opening two slots on disc one. So this set is lacking in some attributes ...

$17.49 Christmas and the blues might seem at first like a strange combination, given that the music of the holiday season is usually joyful, hopeful, and bright, but no other time of the year is so good at showing you what you don't have, and what you can't get, and if you have the blues at Christmas, well, it's going to be a pretty ...
