This two-fer assembles a pair of classic Jack Jones sessions first issued on Kapp Records in the mid-'60s. She Loves Me teams Jones with arranger Jack D. Elliot for the sweetest, sunniest record in the crooner's Kapp catalog. Inspired by bossa nova and related Brazilian rhythms and textures, the music captures Jones at his most effervescent, with a soulfulness absent from his more traditional ballad sessions. The breezy appeal of cuts like "My Mood Is You," "Our Language of Love" and "The Lamp Is Low" contrasts with the emotional resonance of Jones' vocals; even at his most poignant, he remains a nimble stylist, navigating the supple curves and contours of the melodies with sophistication and grace. There's Love & There's Love & There's Love pairs the singer with the immortal arranger Nelson Riddle for a dizzyingly romantic collection of ballads as light and gentle as a summer rain. With their perfectly placed French horns, trombones and flutes, Riddle's arrangements eloquently complement the cut-marble sophistication of Jones' vocals. Both collaborators are masters of understatement, and their emphasis on subtly and atmosphere illuminate well-chosen material like "Young at Heart," "A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening" and "And I Love Her." ~ Jason Ankeny
A two-time Grammy winner in the early '60s, Jack Jones has made a fine living since, blending vocal standards from traditional pop with swinging renditions of contemporary pop and rock hits. Born in Los Angeles in 1938, Jones was the son of the romantic lead actor and recording artist Allan Jones (who had a hit with "The Donkey Serenade") and actress Irene Hervey. He began studying the vocal arts in high school, and after graduation joined his father's successful act on the nightclub circuit....Universal. 2004. | She Loves Me/There's Love & There's Love & There's Love Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Only a small portion of Jones' range and greatness To clarify the two reviews appearing here, both "There's Love and There's Love and There's Love" and "She Loves Me" are concept albums. "There's Love" is a lush collection of romance classics, arranged by Nelson Riddle. "She Loves Me" is a collection of pop escapist tunes set to bossa nova rhythms. It's just a matter of preference to say which style is "best" or "pales next to," as Jones mastered ALL styles (poignant ballads, big band anthems, songs of loneliness and sadness, show tunes, movie themes and much more). Since this release consists of two concept albums, you'll obviously get more variety in music styles on other Jones titles, and I encourage music fans to discover those titles.
Also, Roger Williams' appearance on Charade is not part of this two-fer. It's on "Wives and Lovers," which is offered on a different set with "Dear Heart." Submitted by jjkappfan (Michigan) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
great singing great arrangements These are two of Jack's loveliest albums...plus you get the bonus of having Roger Williams accompany him on Charade on the piano. We still need to have someone reissue Lollipops and Roses/This Was My Love. Let's wait and see.

Love, She Loves Me....... Jack Jones never sounded better in the 60's than on "She Loves Me" a terrific album from the start to the finish. "There's Love & There's Love" album has it's moments but pales in comparison to "She Loves Me" Together they make a good two albums for one. Well worth the expense. $12.89 At 71, blues pianist/singer Moore is only up to his second CD, but it's a very good one. He's definitely reminiscent of his main influence, Roosevelt Sykes, just not as bawdy. Traces of Jay McShann also creep in here and there. Moore wrote all seventeen of these tracks, but you've heard them all under the guise of more familiar blues standards. The back-up ...

$18.85 The combined reissue of the band's debut EP and first full-length -- plus one bonus track, a strong version of Diminuendo's "From Side to Side" that first appeared on the Vain Delights EP -- is an incredible blast of atmospheric post-punk that surges from strength to strength. Part of the sheer confidence audible throughout doubtless derives from the experience most of the group already had under its belt -- singer Craig Lauritson, guitarist Stuart Everest, and drummer Grant McDowell had already been playing together in Dead Neighbours, while bassist Will Heggie had already gained fame as one of the original Cocteau Twins. Their working together proved to be lightning in a bottle, with Lauritson's dramatic but inviting croon and Everest's guitar heroics contrasting perfectly with the steady, powerful rhythm section. The six-song Rain made for a striking start to the group, with a lot of tense energy bubbling up throughout, perhaps most strikingly on the fierce "Sense ...
