Their debut album - featuring Tex Perkins (Beasts Of Bourbon). - The Cruel Sea's unique surf'n'turf sound and strange blend of personalities have made them one of the most potent bands in Australia and at the time of their debut in 1988, they playing instrumental ocean twang to grungy inner-city types. With Tex Perkins guesting on a few tracks, the remainder is left in the supple hands of the inimitable Danny Rumour, Ken Gormley, James Cruikshank and Jim Elliot. Highlights include the title track (since masterfully covered by Jimmy Little) and I Feel. Cruel Sea Down Below Songs | 1. | Down Below | $0.99 | |

Down Below album
$35.49 The Cruel Sea came very close to breaking up after the massive Australian success of 1994's Three Legged Dog, and the group who returned on 1998's Over Easy is pointedly different than before, although the personnel is the same. The live-in-a-room sound of Three Legged Dog is absent; ...

Down Below album
$14.30 Rush is no stranger to best-of compilation albums, they've released a slew of them. They are also no stranger to DVDs. To mark their 35th anniversary, they've released Working Men, which is both; it marks their first best-of live compilation exclusively from the DVD sets Rush in Rio (2003), R30 (2005), and Snakes & Arrows Live (2008). There is also an unreleased cut from R30 -- a killer version of One Little Victory. While fans may simply regard this as a record company cash grab, hardcore fans know how closely Rush monitors each release and controls all aspects of their career. On hearing these tracks without benefit of the visuals, it becomes lucidly clear that in the 21st century, Rush plays more like a hungry act looking to prove themselves rather than as seasoned veterans jaded by the entire business. The instrumental interaction between Neal Peart, Alex Lifeson, and Geddy Lee is utterly uncanny, the anticipation and the willingness to add flourishes and to challenge one another in the bridges and solo sections reveal their command of the material and their empathies ...

Despite its rather silly sci-fi cover, 1974's THRUST is a top-tier album by composer/keyboardist Herbie Hancock. On this excellent follow-up to the legendary HEADHUNTERS, Hancock lays into some seriously deep grooves on his Fender Rhodes, and is backed by many of the same musicians from HEADHUNTERS, including bassist Paul Jackson and woodwind master Bennie Maupin.
The opening track, "Palm Grease," is a slick future-funk workout that breaks down into highly percussive passages, while "Actual Proof" coasts along on Hancock's bright melodies, which ...
| | Linval Thompson Don't Cut Off Your Dreadlocks CDs (2004) Remastered
Down Below album
$13.59 Linval Thompson gets a massive retrospective courtesy of Trojan with Don't Cut Off Your Dreadlocks, collecting 47 tracks from his strongest years as a writer and vocalist, 1975 to 1981. It also gives a window into Linval's early production work that started in 1978 and would eclipse his singing in the '80s, making him one of the most successful producers of the dawning dancehall era. In fact, all but 11 of the tracks here bear Thompson's mark as both producer and singer, with the ...
