(1 Customer Review)
The (Young) Rascals' best-known album is this 1967 release, thanks to the title track, the group's biggest-ever single. An infectiously lazy quasi-bossa nova with more hooks than really should be allowed in any one song, "Groovin'" is a stone classic, one of the best and most-beloved singles of the '60s.
The fact that GROOVIN' has another hit single which some fans think is even better--the gorgeously melodramatic, spacious "How Can I Be Sure"--makes this by default better than any of the Young Rascals' more scattershot and covers-heavy earlier albums. The other nine tracks are cut from the same stylistic cloth as the hits: more refined and quieter than their raucous early hits, songs like "I'm So Happy Now" and "If You Knew" are delightful collisions of lite-psych and jazz-inflected blue-eyed soul. GROOVIN' is a delightful album and probably the best starting point for this often underrated group.

Nigerian vocalist Sade Adu has carved out a cosmpolitan niche for herself over the past decade, gathering together elements of cool jazz, samba, reggae, funk and pop all under the pastoral umbrella of her suede-and-velvet voice. A pop stylist with a musical universe all her own, Sade has endured and matured over the past decade, seemingly unaffected by changes in taste and fashion--a movement unto herself.
As her most recent single (Percy Mayfield's "Please Send Me Someone To Love" from the PHILADELPHIA soundtrack) illustrates, Sade's coy caressing voice speaks more of commitment and trust, of relationships in flux ("Nothing Can Come Between ...

Groovin' And Other Hits songs
$12.59 Based on Figur 5, not much changed in Couch's world since their previous album, Profane, was released five years prior, except their address. Switching from Kitty Yo (and Matador in the U.S.) to Morr Music, the group offers more of the hypnotically pretty, moody post-rock that they began making in the early '90s. Fortunately, though, Figur 5 is a more focused album than the somewhat disappointing Profane ...
