How Do I Look
$10.69 Around Saga's 25th anniversary of their original formation, the lads from the Great White North dusted off some demo tapes recorded in 1978 for the album which would become 1979's IMAGES AT TWILIGHT, and released them as the limited-edition PHASE 1 in 1997. The eight-track set features songs that slipped through the cracks as well as a few that did make the cut and were re-recorded for IMAGES AT TWILIGHT -- which set the stage perfectly for what many consider Saga's greatest album (and commercial breakthrough), 1981's WORLDS APART. As a result, fans will find early versions of such renowned tracks as "You're Not Alone" and "Mouse in a Maze" as well as several oddities -- including the synth-led ditty "Old Man" -- that musically would have sounded perfect as a soundtrack for a hockey highlight video. Hardcore Saga heads should get a thrill out of hunting down a copy of PHASE 1.
The longer a veteran rock band sticks around, the greater the chance of a few "odds and ends" managing to get left in the vault. Around Saga's 25th anniversary of their original formation, the lads from the Great White North dusted off some demo tapes recorded in 1978 for their next studio album, ...

| | Saga Chapters Live CDs (2005)
How Do I Look
$15.35 The Chapters Live was 28 years in the making. Flash back to 1978: a young Canadian band releases its debut LP, an attempt at bridging the gap between progressive rock and FM radio. Two tracks, "Will It Be You?" and "Tired World," are subtitled Chapters 4 and 6 for no apparent reason. Over the next three LPs, Saga will release a total of eight "chapters," seemingly at random, then drop the project, originally sketched for 16 pieces. In the early 2000s, as the group is getting back on track (literally and figuratively), eight new chapters pop up, spread across three albums. On the Marathon tour in 2003, the group performed the complete "Chapters" sequence, in its right order, a moment fans of Saga had been awaiting for a long time. The sci-fi story revolves around Albert Einstein, revived by aliens so that he can help them save humanity from self-destruction. Some of its constituents are well-known ("No Regrets," "Don't Be Late"); ...

| | Best Of The Dinning Sisters CD (1998)
How Do I Look
$13.85 Recorded between December 10, 1943 & August 14, 1951. Includes liner notes by Robert W. Rice.
Compiled from the Capitol archives, The Best of the Dinning Sisters wraps up the ten-year career of the most popular vocal act in Chicago during the '40s. Reminiscent of the other "sisters" groups (the Andrews Sisters, the Boswell Sisters), the Dinning Sisters had warm, bright harmonies that were just as smooth as their contemporaries. The group shifted easily from bold hip-shakers like "Sentimental Gentleman from Georgia" to silky croons like "I Don't Stand a Ghost of a Chance" and the superb "The Way You Look Tonight."
This 1998 collection is almost neatly divided into four segments: straightforward vocal pop from 1943, large orchestra pieces and collaborations with male vocalists from 1945-1946, a 1947 country & western period, and jazzier 1951 recordings that ...
| | Steven Curtis Chapman All About Love CD (2002)
How Do I Look
$15.05 A true concept album dealing exclusively with the joys, trials and tribulations of marriage, ALL ABOUT LOVE is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished and emotionally complex examinations of monogamous love ever recorded. One of Steven Curtis Chapman's least overtly religious albums, it is nonetheless ranks among his most stirring and spiritual efforts. Musically, Chapman is in absolutely top form, producing a collection of intensely catchy melodies as good as any in his extensive catalog. Though the production is as slick as ever, ALL ABOUT LOVE is never sappy, often recalling the finest work of refined heart-on-the-sleeve secular artists like Crowded House and Steve Winwood. Highlights include the Beatles/Elvis Costello-style workout of "You've Got Me" and Chapman's pounding, New Wave-ish cover of the Proclaimers' classic "I'm Gonna Be (500 miles)". A perfect gift for Valentine's Day or wedding anniversaries, ALL ABOUT LOVE stands apart from other romantic-themed albums as a mature and substantial work which reveals greater ...

How Do I Look
$9.85 Those who have always enjoyed Jackie McLean's many studio recordings likely were frustrated at his lack of live performance due to his dedication to teaching. This recording will give fans a good account of what he was capable of in this club date setting done in Belgium. With no other complementary horn to play off, McLean's alto is in full flight, a bit less tart or acerbic, and definitely more tuneful than usual, and ripping through these compositions like a sharp rotary saw blade. African pianist Hotep Idris Galeta is an interesting choice for the group, as he plays anything from straight bop to Abdullah Ibrahim-type township styles, while bassist Nat Reeves and especially drummer Carl Allen get the job done with a workman's precision and great reverence for McLean's discipline and style. One thing ...
