Isn't this Elton's favourite album? Yes, there are some duffers (notably 'If there's a God' and the music they used for top gear - 'Out of the blue', but the sound is excellent, the band is excellent, there's Buckmaster involvement, and some of these songs rank as Elton's best compositions. By Neil (Newcastle, UK)
Flawed, yet somehow perfect ... A review I once read called this album was a "flawed masterpiece," and that perhaps is the best way to describe it. By Andy Geisel (Mammoth Lakes, CA)
the last good one for king elton. as much as it pains me to say this but elton was supposed to be cool but then when the album and the rolling stone article came out many people are out to dethrone him. By davidandino83 (chicago)
HIS LAST GREAT ALBUM Somehow this album mysteriously gets forgotten among his greatest. Maybe it's because it's a double album, or maybe because at the time his image had taken a beating. By Marshall (Southfield MI USA)
Not bad, but would've been better as a 1-discer Sir Elton's songwriting was starting to break down here, as his bandmates ended up helping write several of these tracks. Despite some solid songs and a few interesting instrumentals, there's just far too much filler here. By hoojib127 (St. Paul, MN, USA)

Amy Correia Carnival Love CD (2000)
Blue Moves CD music Downtown New York singer-songwriter Amy Correia's debut album is a terrific, endearingly arty post-modern mishmash, with elements of folk, country, power pop, and late '60s baroque psychedelia. It's reminiscent at times of Michael Penn, Jill Sobule without the snarky attitude, or Joan Osborne without the heavy breathing.
Correia alternates most attractively between two basic vocal modes--a winsome, breathy, little girl sound, and a big bluesy wail. Her songs are all over the map, from the technicolor, neo- World Party-ish production of "Life is Beautiful," through the starkly minimalist plaint of "Yours," to the insidiously catchy "Daydream Car," which mates hip-hop with REVOLVER-era Beatles.
Chenn (background vocals).
