Personnel: Djavan (vocals, viola); Ernie Watts (alto saxophone, tenor saxophone); Luiz Avellar (piano, keyboards); David Foster (keyboards, bass synthesizer); Greg Phillinganes, Randy Kerber (keyboards); Paulinho Da Costa (percussion); Erich Bulling (keyboard programming). Audio Mixer: Humberto Gatica. Photographer: Randee Saint Nicholas. Unknown Contributor Role: Al Schmidt. Arrangers: Luiz Avellar; Jerry Hey. This is a danceable album, almost completely devoted funk/soul sonorities. Exceptions and highlights are the hit "Esquinas" (pop ballad) and the ignored "Obi" (samba). Other hits from this album were "Infinito" and "Lilás." The work brings the rich rhythmic interplay between Djavan's lyrics and singing with the funk backbeat. ~ Alvaro Neder Lilas Music | List Price | $19.98 (You save $3.19) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, World CDs, International, R&B, Brazilian, Latin House | | Label | Sony Music | | Orig Year | 1984 | | All Time Sales Rank | 111984 | | CD Universe Part number | 1373088 | | Catalog number | 464370 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Jan 12, 1984 | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Erich Bulling; Djavan; Monique Gardenberg | | Personnel | Paulinho Da Costa - percussion Greg Phillinganes David Foster - keyboards, bass synthesizer Ernie Watts - alto saxophone, tenor saxophone Randy Kerber - keyboards Erich Bulling - keyboard programming Djavan - vocals, viola Luiz Avellar - piano, keyboards

| | George Duke Follow The Rainbow CD (1979) Japan
Lilas
$24.65 When George Duke made the transition from jazz instrumentalist to R&B star in 1977, he received both negative and positive reviews. R&B-oriented publications tended to provide favorable reviews-even glowing ones-whereas much of the jazz media routinely trashed soul/funk efforts like 1979's Follow the Rainbow. To many jazz critics, Duke was a sellout-a virtuoso who had forsaken ...

$23.45 Co-helmed by WALL-E director Andrew Stanton, FINDING NEMO follows Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks), an overprotective clown fish father, as he desperately searches the farthest reaches of the sea for his missing son Nemo. Marlin's journey leads him beyond the Great Barrier Reef into deeper and darker waters, where he meets Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a forgetful yet optimistic blue tang, and a number of not-so-friendly--and often very hungry--aquatic creatures. Meanwhile, little Nemo finds himself in a dentist's fish tank in Syndey, Australia, along with other underwater captives, including Gill (Willem Dafoe), the group's scarred Moorish idol leader. As Nemo works with his new friends on a plan to escape their tank, Marlin and Dory swim closer, but they'll need more than just fins to get into ...

$48.59 | | If Thousands I Have Nothing CD
Lilas
$13.15 i have nothing is the fourth release by Duluth, Minnesota's If Thousands. The duo of McShane & Molina returned to Crazy Beast Studio & Ben Durrant in Minneapolis where they recorded their first album Candice Recorder. Heading back to experiments in sound rather than formal songs, they were joined in the studio by the bands GST & 2i as well as Paul Metzger (TVBC) for a two-day improvisational recording session. The new album is the best results of this session.
Personnel: Paul Metzger (banjo). Audio Mixer: Ben Durrant. Photographer: Joe Cunningham. Beginning with a half-dreamy, half-discordant piece called "Push," at once serenely contemplative and suddenly jarring (the latter due to the rough, up-front guitar notes played by one member), I Have Nothing makes for an unexpected, intriguing listen. If Thousands could easily be lumped in with the large ...
