Jump Shout album
$8.79 Bananarama followed up their hit-laden True Confessions, which spawned their international chart-topping version of "Venus," with 1987's Wow! True Confessions witnessed the emerging role of Stock, Aitken & Waterman as the trio's producers -- Wow! was wholly assembled by the hitmaking team, which was also responsible for hits by Rick Astley, Kylie Minogue, Dead or Alive, Donna Summer, and countless others. This album is, therefore, a straightforward 1980s dance set, with several songs that went on to become international hits. The only track from this set to make the U.S. Top Ten was "I Heard a Rumour," a sassy, joyous single ...

| | Mr P Chill & Trunk Of Funk Mr. P Chill & Trunk Of Funk Vol. 2-Organic Hip Hop CD (2006)
Jump Shout album
$8.39 You get out of your car at the club and hear a sudden rumble, followed by a crowd screaming “Ho!”. As you approach the door, it gets louder, and frankly, much funkier as you can now hear the driving baseline and choppy guitar. As you make your way through the crowded room you realize what you have stumbled upon, Sacramento’s funkiest live hip hop band, Mr. P Chill & Trunk Of Funk!Formed in 2003 to back up Sacramento hip hop vet Mr. P Chill at some of his live gigs, Trunk Of Funk, originally was just that, a back up band. Now 2 years and over 100 gigs later, they are a fixture withing the Sacramento music scene, and Chill rocks 99% of his shows with them. Winning over fans all over N. California, Oregon & Nevada with their old school funk inspired sound, mixed with Chill’s socially conscious lyrics and unforgettable crowd participation party jams, this is an experience comparable to none. Some classify it as hip hop because the main vocals are rap, that is an accurate description. Some classify it as funk because of the nature of the music that is played, that to is correct. The biggest compliment that they get is from people who don’t like hip hop, but they love this band, or from the hip hop heads who are used to the traditional hip hop formula of emcees and DJs, and are blown away by the raw energy of emcees with live musicians. Mr. P Chill & Trunk Of Funk have been able to break down genre barriers and open peoples minds to something new at almost every gig, playing with every type of band from rock to jazz, to emcees with DJs. Mr. P Chill & Trunk Of Funk is a 6 man crew consisting of drums, bass, guitar, keys, a scratch DJ and an emcee. Drummer Diamond D has played drums for over 10 years and was a part of several bands from Atlanta to Brooklyn to Sacramento. Guitar player Richard, also originally from Georgia, was raised on the funk and blends a great mix of strong guitar riffs with southern hospitality to make his unique sound. H5 is on bass and makes the funk grooves flow from her amp as she provides the backbone of the sound. OmegaZ, the keyboard player, is a classically trained pianist who leans on his base knowledge of the piano, and true funky soul to bring Trunk Of Funk their jazzy edge. DJ Double Ace has been an emcee/DJ for over 10 years. Mr. P Chill, dubbed recently by the Sacramento Bee as “Sacramento’s hardest working hip hopper”, has been rapping and releasing music since 1992 in and out of various groups and as a solo artist.Mr. P Chill & Trunk Of Funk rock anywhere from 4-10 gigs a month and have toured in the past as well. Some of their more noteworthy gigs include playing at the California State Fair to thousands of people in 2003, 2004 & 2005, a performance at the Crest Theater at the 2004 SAMMIE Awards show (SAMMIE is the premier Sacramento area music award) ...

| | Cactus V CD (2006)
Jump Shout music CDs
$13.19 There were probably fewer people clamoring for this Cactus reunion in 2006 than for a Vanilla Fudge or Beck, Bogert & Appice one, but that didn't stop the famed plodding rhythm section from giving it another go. Original Cactus lead singer Rusty Day passed in 1982, but the core trio of bassist Tim Bogert, drummer Carmine Appice, and guitarist Jim McCarty recruited singer Jimmy Kunes and let fly with this hourlong set of forceful, sweaty blues-rock. Cactus were never known for their subtlety, and the simplistically titled V doesn't challenge the group's historically predictable game plan as it plows through familiar terrain with requisite enthusiasm but a lack of the imagination and creativity that made even minor guilty pleasures such as 1971's Restrictions catalog highlights. It's unfair to criticize Cactus for not working outside of the boogie rock boundaries they established on their releases over three decades earlier, but the derivative vocals of Kunes make the quartet now seem like a second-rate AC/DC. Songs such as "Muscle and Soul" have neither, despite the band's best intentions. McCarty's Jimmy Page-styled ...
