| Metalmorfosis Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Metal's best kept secret Baron Rojo are Spain's greatest hard-rock/metal band of all time. So why haven't you heard of them? Because they sing in Spanish! Spanish-language rock fans know about Baron Rojo, but I'm here to tell all you non-Spanish-speaking rock/metal lovers like myself, that the Baron kicks serious butt, and the language barrier won't keep their memorable, melodic songs from sticking in your head. They have a very classic sound, with that distinct Marshall tone and a twin lead guitar attack, with noticeable similarities to AC/DC, Iron Maiden (particularly when playing lead harmonies), and, to a lesser extent, Judas Priest, Saxon, and similar bands.
This album, Metalmorfosis, is their third and contains some of their best songs. In fact every song on here is excellent, but one stands out as an all time metal classic. Whether you can understand the lyrics or not, "Siempre Estais Alli" ("You Were Always There") has to be one of the most beautiful and powerful metal ballads of all time. With it's instantly memorable lead guitar harmony and emotional singing, this song is a guaranteed favorite. Think "Children of the Sea" by Black Sabbath or "Beyond the Realms of Death" by Judas Priest; "Siempre Estais Alli" is in the same league.
Do yourself a favor, be the next English-speaking rocker to discover the Spanish-language masters. Larga Vida Al Baron! Submitted by jrschwartz (Davis, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
| | Eric Clapton Rainbow Concert CD (1973) Remastered
Metalmorfosis
$7.29 In the two years following Eric Clapton's appearance at George Harrison's 1971 Concert For Bangladesh, the former guitar god took a sabbatical from playing, due to a number of personal problems. Alarmed at the state that his friend had fallen into, Pete Townshend arranged an all-star concert at London's Rainbow Theatre, where a band that included Ron Wood, ex-Blind Faith (Steve Winwood, Rick Grech) and current Traffic members (Jim Capaldi, Rebop) helped Slowhand play his first live show in two years.
RAINBOW CONCERT, an album of edited segments from the live show, finds a rejuvenated Clapton revisiting his days with Cream ("Badge"), backing Winwood's soulful vocals with some sanctified playing of his own ("Presence of The Lord"), and paying tribute to a fallen comrade ("Little Wing"). On Traffic's "Pearly Queen," the combination of Clapton's guitar with the swirling keyboards and thundering rhythm of the song make for some mesmerizing listening. A year later, Eric Clapton had a comeback album (461 OCEAN BOULEVARD) and a number one song ("I Shot The Sheriff").
In these days of CD expansion, it is not unusual for a record company to reissue an old album with a bonus track or two. This reconstruction of the January 13, 1973, comeback concert by Eric Clapton is something else again, however. The original six-track LP ran less than 27 minutes; the new 14-track CD runs almost 74 minutes. The eight additions -- "Layla," "Blues Power," "Bottle of Red Wine," "Bell Bottom Blues," "Tell the Truth," "Key to the Highway," "Let It Rain," and "Crossroads" -- make the disc an effective recapitulation of Clapton's career over the previous seven years, including his ...

Metalmorfosis
$13.59 This 22-song compilation assembles both of the group's Columbia Records albums on one CD. The playing is virtuosic by the standards of rock music, and this makes the recordings of interest even when the songs are less than stellar, which is most of the time. There are no notes apart ...

Metalmorfosis
$10.85 Turkish ney player Kudsi Erguner has made a career out of resurrecting Turkish traditional music, and here he uses his five-piece ensemble -- which also features his brother Suleyman Erguner on ney, Hasan Esen on kemence, Mehmet Emin Bitmez on ud, and Husnu Anil on kanun -- to back up three noted singers, Yusuf Bilgin, Fevzi Misir, and Aziz Bahriyeli, on musical settings for a series of poems by Ottoman figures dating back to the 16th century and up to the 20th. On each track, only one of the singers performs, and the musical treatments are semi-improvised in the form called "Taksim," which Erguner explains in the liner notes as only being allowed once ...
