LIVE IN TOKYO (1983), the second live Public Image Limited album in three years, presents the listener with a different side of the band. The PIL captured here is very energetic. Even more surpisingly, John Lydon seems interested in having the audience like him. After castigating Christianity in "Religion," he goes so far as to greet his audience--in Japanese!
Clearly riding on the chart success of "(This is Not a) Love Song," Lydon and Company's live version, the record's standout track, incites the previously quiet audience to sing along. The crowd continues to do just that, even after the song has concluded. In turn, the band plays a reprise of a few choruses for the fans. During the second half of LIVE IN TOKYO--"Death Disco," "Bad Life," "Banging the Door," and "Under the House"--the audience's excitement at the dynamic workouts given to their PIL favorites is mirrored in the band's enthusiastic performance. This is especially true on the last track, which, though shortened considerably from the studio version, features amazing drumming from Martin Atkins.

Live In Tokyo
$9.25 What to do after fronting the Sex Pistols? John Lydon formed Public Image Ltd, an avant-noise ensemble that took punk's energy into spacier and sometimes danceable directions. This self-titled release, which includes the songs "Low Life" and "Fodderstompf" was one of the opening salvos for post-punk.
Like it or not, Public Image Limited's First Issue (aka Public Image) was an album that helped set the pace for what eventually became known as post-punk. In England a vacuum had opened up in the wake of the breakup of the Sex Pistols in January 1978, and many punk fans and rival groups ...

Live In Tokyo
$7.55 PiL's fourth album took three years to reach fruition, much of this time spent gigging and changing personnel. The initial recordings of the follow-up to The Flowers of Romance included the nucleus of Lydon and Keith Levene; Martin Atkins was asked to stay on board, and he brought bassist Pete Jones with him, a mate who was helping him out with his own Brian Brain project. After those initial sessions and a few shows, both Levene and Jones quit within a month of each other. Lydon then recruited the majority of a lounge act spotted at a New Jersey Holiday Inn and toured with them, playing a set heavy on the new material. After touring, Lydon and Atkins wiped Jones and Levene off the tapes for the new record, ...

About The Insects Rock!Interview with Corey Leland by Naila Francis for the March/April 2007 issue of MYSTIC POP Magazine: PLAY WITH PURPOSE: Beyond that Saturday morning cartoon vibe, you’ll find Corey Leland Children’s songwriter is actually aiming to grow more conscious and self-confident kids with his songs. Corey Leland was standing in line at a “.99 Cent” Store one day when he noticed the tension between a mother and her 5-year old son. Intrigued, as he often is by such moments, the California-based singer-songwriter approached the woman.Corey said, “Excuse me, I’m writing songs for kids about your boy’s age,” he recalls. “What would you want kids to hear in a song? More especially, what would you want to hear so that you wouldn’t have to get upset with your child? A song that would resolve the issue in theory before it even began?”The woman thought about it and said,” Be careful what words you use because my kid calls me stupid in public sometimes!”Corey Leland took her comments to heart and a song speaking to a mother’s very concerns was born! The song written by Corey especially for kids and their parents is called “Communication, Consideration (It’s Right To Be Polite)” was one of the 12 tracks to appear on his children’s music debut, “Corey Leland Presents The Insects Rock! Songs You Want Your Kids To Hear,” a collection of sunny pop-rock songs with a giddy 1970’s retro style and lovingly crafted positive affirmations and practical ...
