Out of print in the U.S.! East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon was the Norwegian trio's fourth album and was originally released in 1990. Although they had fallen out of favor in the U.S., the band remained extremely successful in Europe and Japan. The album is far more upbeat than the darkly beautiful Stay On These Roads (released in 1988) and features the hits 'Early Morning', 'I Call Your Name' and their stunning remake of the Everly Brothers' 'Crying In The Rain'. Warner.
A-Ha: Morten Harket (vocals), Pal Waaktaar (guitars, bass, piano, background vocals), Magne Furuholmen (keyboards, harmonica, vocals). Additional personnel: Phil Todd (saxophone), Joran "JB" Bogeberg (bass), Chris Hughes, Per Hillestad (drums), Martin Ditcham (percussion). A small surprise, too quickly destined for the cut-out bins considering the way their career finally went after Hunting High And Low. This is a nicely crafted collection of songs, performed and sung beautifully, with lots of echoes and suggestions tucked into the music. While not an album one can discuss at length, it's an album that's a pleasure to listen to and one that deserves a better reception than the one, unfortunately, that it seems to have gotten. ~ Steven McDonald

East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon
$10.15 Joe Elefante is a multitalented keyboardist, saxophonist, vocalist, composer, arranger, and educator. He founded and led Joe Elefante and the Sugarband, which has been featured on ABC's Nightline, The Fine Living Network, BigBandJazz.Com, and AllAboutJazz.Com, and in The Wall Street Journal, The Star Ledger, and Jazz Improv magazine. Joe’s compositions for the band sometimes defy classification, falling somewhere along the lines of “Big Band Pop.”Joe has just released Here I Am, an eclectic mix of pop, big band, and modern small group jazz. The album features not only the Sugarband, but Joe's wife, Caryn, on vocals, and jazz greats Don Braden, Cecil Broooks III, Freddy Hendrix, Wayne Batchelor, and Matt King. The title track was written by Joe and Caryn for last year's American Idol songwriting competition. There are also four numbers featuring the Sugarband, including revisits of "Danger" and "I Cry". The remaining five tracks feature various combinations of small jazz groups playing energetic, modern, swinging jazz. Joe's first release, Vanity Fair, is a collection of ten original compositions. Although the album is still grounded firmly in its jazz heritage, one can’t help but hear varied influences on the track “I Cry", which features the composer on vocals and keyboards.Born in Summit, NJ in 1978, Joe began playing piano at the age of six, and saxophone at the age of nine. At thirteen ...
