| | Twilights Way They Played CD Twilights Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Over 20 tracks of their best material, drawing largely on their Australian singles, most of them self-penned. ~ Richie Unterberger
In 1977, Glenn A. Baker compiled a lavish, 16-track anthology of The Twilights for EMI, which gave overdue recognition to what was arguably the most musically proficient Australian rock outfit of the 1960s. The band which launched the careers of singer Glenn Shorrock (Little River Band) & guitarist/songwriter Terry Britten (hit writer for Cliff Richard, Tina Turner & Michael Jackson). Now expanded from 16 to 28 tracks, with the addition of such gems as, 'John Hardy', 'Bessemae', 'Mr. Nice', 'I'm Not Talking', the rare Terry Britten solo track 'Bargain Day' & 'Tell Me Goodbye'. Also included is the pricelessly rare original 45 rpm version of 'Baby Let Me Take You Home' (rejected for the band's first album because it was feared that it would blow up speakers!) and the classic Twilight hits, '9.50', 'Young Girl', 'The Way They Play', 'Needle In A Haystack', 'You've Got Soul', 'What's Wrong With The Way I Live?' & 'Bad Boy'. The CD features extensive liner notes & a wide range of photographs. Raven Records. Twilights Way They Played Songs | 1. | If She Finds Out |

Way They Played
$14.79 This hour-long CD is one of the best bodies of British psychedelia ever released. It contains the complete Mighty Baby album from Head Records, expanded to 13 tracks with the addition of five tracks cut by the Action during its 1967 transition period. The opening number, "Egyptian Tomb," sets the tone for the entire album -- in terms of content, structure, and beat, it sounds like the early Allman Brothers, or ...

Way They Played
$19.99 After the critical acclaim of their self-titled debut and Return to Magenta in 1977 and 1978, respectively, Willy DeVille and his band took another look at the sassy, street-tough rock & roll they'd dished up and took the first step toward the swinging Spanish soul the band's subsequent albums would strive for and the crooning R&B heartbreaker DeVille himself would become as a solo artist. Le Chat Bleu is angel-headed hipster rock. The Doc Pomus influence on the opening track, "This Must Be the Night," with its cascading harmonies and 1950s girl group melodies, is a doo wop fantasy for the punk age. That influence was more than that as Pomus and Willy DeVille co-wrote three songs together for this stellar effort. Far more reverent than the Ramones and nowhere near Robert Gordon's stilted revivalism, Mink DeVille could sing and play rock & roll sweetly and razor sharp, ...
