This fine compilation, which dates from the late 1960s, collects some of Francoise Hardy's best recordings, including "Le Tempos De L'amour," "All Over the World," "L'amitie," and others.
The '60s French chanteuse Francoise Hardy was considered to be one of the original Ye-Ye girls but she was also a true artiste. This solid collection from 1962-65 is as a good a place to start as any, and includes her first smash hit, "Tous Les Garcons et Les Filles," a notably stark, serious debut for any kind of pop singer, and definitely a harbinger of substantial things to come.
Collection of hits from the French chanteuse, one of the most popular female vocalists in her home country. 12 tracks including 'Mon Amie La Rose', 'Ce Petit Coeur' and 'Comme'. BMG. Greatest Recordings Music Francoise Hardy Greatest Recordings Songs Greatest Recordings Review

$18.99 THE BIG WU is a rock 'n' roll band bit by a loon -- a little crazy, and never afraid to make fun of itself. Nonetheless, there's an inherent sense among its burgeoning "Family" of fans back home in Minneapolis and around the country that the heartland's premier grassroots attraction is on the threshold of something big indeed. With the release of Folktales, its second studio effort on Phoenix Rising, THE BIG WU has delivered 10 songs in almost as many Wu-flavored styles with the same transporting force and impeccable musical interaction that placed their recent Phoenix Presents album, Live at the Fitzgerald Theatre 4.21. 00, among Entertainment Weekly's all-time Top 10 Contemporary Jam Band Albums. Folktales effortlessly moves from the straight-ahead rock of "Angie O'Plasty," to the country stomp of "Minnesota Moon" and the modern classic-pop balladry of "Boxing Day," before surveying white-boy ska on "Two Person Chair" and simple funk and neo-heavy metal on the seemlessly paired "Oxygen" and "Elani." Thanks to the vintage mini Moog synthesizers that were once in the arsenals of Rush and Emerson, Lake and Palmer, "Kensington Manor," about a legendary Wu Family residence, has an easy, progressive rock sensibility. "House of Wu" is a "bitchgrass" ode to a mystical Chinese restaurant in Minneapolis, and "S.O.S." has a broad middle where the music flows like the waves in a turbulent sea while the lyrics scream: "The New World may be Heaven in the End." Folktales appropriately ends with "Shantytown," a lilting Caribbean excursion that bounces to a close with the unified debut of the newly minted Shantytown Chorus -- some 500 BIG WU fans chanting in unison, under the baton of drummer Terry VanDeWalker, at a party the band threw in a warehouse studio during the ...

$17.05 The British Ace Records label continues its impressive series of vintage R&B reissues with this collection of little-heard items from the archives of Los Angeles-based soul specialists Kent Records and its sister label, Modern Records. While this disc is dominated by lesser-known acts, there are a few recognizable names here, including the Ikettes, who take the spotlight from bandleader Ike Turner on the sassy "Don't Feel Sorry for Me"; Johnny Copeland, best known as a bluesman but showing off some strong Southern soul vocals on "You Must Believe in Yourself"; and Los Angeles soul veteran Vernon Garrett, who sounds fine on the tough but moody "I'm Guilty." However, the more obscure acts deliver music every bit as strong; Billy Watkins kicks off the show with the hard-twisting "Beverly," Freeman King (a regular on Sonny & Cher's television ...

$8.69 Tim Brick Biography The Artist: Born and raised in Vermont, Tim Brick has loved music since childhood. He began his musical journey when he first picked up a guitar at the age of thirteen. Drawing water from the wells of both rock and country, Tim's music is a hybrid sound often referred to as Alternative country, Southern rock, or outlaw country. Since childhood, he was exposed to both sides of the musical tracks. Searching through his mother's record collection, he was introduced to Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles. When his father(a long distance trucker) would return home, he would here the sounds of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams jr., and Johnny Cash. While learning to sing and play, Tim fell in love with the art of songwriting and listening to the great songwriters like Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, and Ryan Adams. Over time he came to realize one thing!. It's all about the song. ' It's about a lot more than just playing the right notes. You have to live it, breathe it, and drink it. The audience has to believe that these songs come from your heart and soul. 'The Music: Throughout the 1990's, Tim cut his teeth playing guitar in numerous bands. Growing tired of bouncing from band to band and the lack of success that each venture brought, Tim formed his own band, 'Black Hills Railroad' in 1998. What began as a simple demo recording session, quickly grew into a three piece band. Although the project had a short life of two years, the band recorded three albums worth of original music featuring Tim as the singer, guitarist, and principle songwriter. In 2002, he joined a locally based hard rock group named 'Cellblock One'. Hired as the band's lead guitarist, he began to focus on his songwriting. The group was active in the music scene of Vermont and New England from 2002 to 2008. In that time, the band played clubs throughout New England(including ...
