The song "Travelin' Man" features one of the final live vocal recordings of Ronnie Van Zant mixed with a new studio vocal by younger brother Johnny Van Zant.
TWENTY, the title of Lynyrd Skynyrd's 1997 release, was a reminder that 20 years had passed since the tragic plane crash that killed Lynyrd Skynyrd bandmembers Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and Cassie Gaines. It also marked the first time that ex-Blackfoot guitarist Ricky Medlock appeared on a full Skynyrd studio album as an official member (he was actually an early member of the band prior to their '73 debut). Highlights include the guitar jamfest "Bring It On," "How Soon We Forget," and "None of Us is Free." While not a classic like Skynyrd's '70s output (SECOND HELPING, STREET SURVIVORS, etc.), TWENTY showed that the band was still alive and well in the '90s.
Brand new English release.
Recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound, Sheffield, Alabama on January 28, 1997 and live at The Fox Theater, Atlanta, Georgia on July 7 and July 9, 1976. Includes liner notes by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Twenty album
$9.58 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. Plus, a large part of Boyle's appeal is that she's a middle-aged woman recalling a bygone era when there were singers that appealed to an adult audience by offering soft, stately versions of pop hits and standards. That time was the late `60s and early `70s, and apart from a rather faithful version of Madonna's "You'll See," I Dreamed ...

$10.39 Like the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL franchise, GLEE became more than a TV show when several of its songs cracked the Hot 100, including the number four hit "Don't Stop Believing." That song kicks off this soundtrack, the first in a series of albums cataloging the music performed by the show's cast. Not all GLEE members are created equal--some cast mates are far better actors than singers--but this soundtrack has enough star power to keep things trucking along, especially when powerhouse ...

$11.85 This Orlando group's effort is teeming with a whiny teen-angst rock flavor as the band wallows in songs such as "The Shore," which would instantly bring to mind Simple Plan, with lead singer Aaron Harvey's timbre like that of Pierre Bouvier. When Mashlin attempt a softer, winding track with a gritty underbelly, "Arrive Like a Thief," ...
| | Prime Of Antonio Carlos Jobim CDs (2005) Box Set
Twenty songs
$47.49 DBK Works (a division of Water Records) boasts on the cover of this box set that this is the "prime" of Antonio Carlos Jobim. The three albums here are all from the mid-'60s, beginning with Jobim and Terri Hinte's authoritative, scholarly yet passionate liner notes -- spread in three parts over the three discs and making a real case for each of the recordings here -- Wonderful World of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Love, Strings and Jobim, and A Certain Mr. Jobim. All were recorded for Warner Brothers, none of them measuring up to the spare grace of Jobim's initial American recording for Verve, Composer. Hinte's liner notes claim that the first of these was recorded under traumatic circumstances: arranger Nelson Riddle's son was recovering from a serious auto accident; and that Jobim was asked to play guitar instead of piano, and to sing. It's a good recording, but no masterpiece. It cannot be argued, however, that the songs themselves on each of these three records have been covered dozens of times by singers and musicians all over the world. Also, Love, Strings and Jobim is not a Jobim record proper, though his name has been pasted all over the cover of various reissues with different titles. He presented numerous Brazilian composers and musicians -- including Marcos Valle, Eumir Deodato, Oscar Neves, and Baden Powell among them -- on this set and their recordings. Gaya and Deodato arranged this session. He contributed only two tracks to it. All of these recordings are important, however, in that they flesh out that Verve debut and introduce songs to American audiences that were never heard before. In addition, they establish heartily Jobim's presence on the American scene. The final disc in this collection, A Certain Mr. ...
