| | Slapp Happy Acnalbasac Noom CD Slapp Happy Discography of CDs
This is the first version of what became 1970s art-rock trio Slapp Happy's second, eponymous album, later entitled CASABLANCA MOON; it differs from the later album in its minimalist production and straight-ahead arrangements. Interestingly, the backing is provided by Krautrock band Faust (Slapp Happy were formed in Wumme, Germany). They supply an uncharacteristically gentle pop baroque foundation for Dagmar Krause's charmingly brittle vocals and Peter Blegvad's often bizarre lyrics, notably on the tango-like "Casablanca Moon" and "Mr. Rainbow" (which features lyrics by the French poet Arthur Rimbaud). Four tracks from the band's private collection, recorded in the early 1980s, round out this enchanting collection of art-rock whimsy.
Slapp Happy: Peter Blegvad (vocals, guitar, saxophone); Dagmar Krause (vocals); Anthony Moore (guitar, keyboards); Jean-Hervé Péron (bass guitar); Werner Diermaier (drums).
Additional personnel: Gunter Wüsthoff (unknown instrument); Faust.

Acnalbasac Noom
$16.19 The Gillan Tapes Volume 3 is a scorcher as it includes the very rare eight and half minute 'live' studio version of 'Smoke On The Water' which has never before been released on CD plus numerous other raritiesCD2 is 'For Gillan Fans Only' and is FREE (charged as a single CD)
Another helping of alternate mixes and takes, mixed in with some live tracks. No dates are given; that would take the mystery out of the hunt, wouldn't it? Since Gillan's brand of manic, oft-silly hard rock, mixing metal and prog and overwrought vocals, wasn't so special in the first place, you'd really need to be bitten by the bug to chase this down. The eight-minute live-in-the-studio version of "Smoke in the Water," released as a B-side "in some territories" ...
| | Slapp Happy Casablanca Moon/Desperate Straights CD (1999)
Acnalbasac Noom
$11.65 Recorded in Faust's studio in Hamburg, Germany, Casablanca Moon is the 2nd Slapp Happy record. It's an eccentric yet melodic record with addictive songs... Blegvad, Dagmar Krause and Anthony Moore work in a short song format, and understandably quirky and great things happen. Desperate Straights is something else, the first fusing of Henry Cow and Slapp Happy (who went on to make In Praise of Learning as well. This is a powerful album, musically sophisticated and quirky as all get-out. Songs like "A Worm Is at Work" or "Some Questions about Hats" have to be heard to be believed. EMI. 1996.

| | Constantines Shine A Light CD (2003)
Acnalbasac Noom
$11.65 On their debut album for Sub Pop, Canadian indie rockers the Constantines sharpened their songwriting and took several bold steps away from the more classic hardcore sound of their self-titled debut. SHINE A LIGHT rages with a righteous punk rock spirit, yet there's a remarkable use of space throughout. With near jazz-like interplay, an odd guitar line or whisper-to-a-scream vocal will suddenly pierce the often minimalist sonic landscapes of tracks such as "Nighttime Anytime" and "Insectivora."
That said, the Constantines ...
| | We Are The Sluts Of Trust CD (2004)
Acnalbasac Noom
$10.69 "... beautiful melodies and great textures ... The kind of record I just fall into and take the journey." --Rick Slater, producer (Lou Reed, Keith Richards)"...obvious quicksilver intelligence of ensemble and arranging. Thanks to Ms. Miller for putting this together." -- Catherine M. Gollery, Senior Music Director, AOL Entertainment"To get a grip on Miller's music, try to imagine a musical conference call between, say, Bela Bartok and Brian Eno, or Mstislav Rostropovich and Jimmy Page... cranking it out with a rock-n-roll attitude." -- J.C. Lockwood, Merrimac River CurrentKristen Miller has a cello, and she's not afraid to use it...Whether she's tapping out an African rhythm, cranking out a driving bass line, or weaving a hypnotic melody, her self-composed music hints at folk, alternative, and world music traditions, yet always settles into its own unmistakably original sound. A seasoned performer with a searing live vibe, Kristen has been hailed by music critic Jamie Perkins as "the Eddie van Halen of the cello."By using digital looping technology, Kristen can construct an entire work, literally playing several parts, in harmony, at the same time. In live performance and on her debut album, Later That Day, Kristen combines this looping technology with various effects and the warmth of an antique cello, taking the instrument away from the classical style and into a funky new frontier of multi-layered sound and texture. Adding his incredible rhythmic stylings to Later That Day is percussionist Scott Kessel. While her classical training (B.A. Music) gave her the chops to play the works she now writes and performs, it was her study of folk and ethnic music at NYU that truly planted the seeds for her present musical style. Time ...

$6.75 Howls of rage greeted Bob Dylan as he presented the world with rock music--he was roundly booed at both the Newport Folk Festival and the Royal Albert Hall. Yet here is one of those moments of cross-influence that changed the course of popular music. BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME gave Dylan an audience on a plate; it was a massive breakthrough. An album of two ...

| | Lyzanxia Unsu CD (2006) (Import) Bonus Track; Japan
Acnalbasac Noom
$36.79 With their fourth album, UNSU, Frenchmen Lyzanxia distinguish themselves for touching upon several separate styles of modern heavy metal -- thrash, death, hardcore metal, even a little black and nu-metal -- with commendable versatility and flexibility; yet without feeling the need to commit to any of them entirely. The dual-vocal attack of David and Franck Potvin pretty much guarantees variety from song to song and moment to moment, but if there's any easy comparison to be made for tracks like "Path Blade," "Answer Fields" ...
