Fenix album
$6.79 The Guess Who always seemed a bit like the Canadian predecessor/counterpart to Grand Funk Railroad, but they typically fared far better with the critics because of the versatility that they possessed. That trait is very evident on this collection of hits and great songs. From the opening "These Eyes," with its orchestral strings and Zombies-like baroque pop feel to the classic AOR crunge of "American Woman," the Guess Who played a wide variety of music. It is sometimes hard to believe that the same group that brought the world the jazzy "Undun" and the CS&N-ish hippie anthem "Share the Land" is also responsible for the rocking "No Time." ...

| | Israel Iz Kamakawiwo'Ole Alone In Iz World CD (2001)
Fenix music CDs
$13.29 While the name Israel Kamakawiwo'ole falls trippingly off few tongues, the Hawaiian singer better known as "Iz" was one of the biggest stars in his home state. Iz first came to public attention as a member of the popular Hawaiian group known as the Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau. His subsequent solo career brought even greater fame, and countless fans were saddened at his untimely death in 1997. Those who mourn his passing will be gladdened by the posthumous release of ALONE IN IZ WORLD, compiled from various recording session outtakes.
While one might expect a big, deep sound to emanate from a gargantuan-sized body like that of Iz, the hefty singer actually possessed a gorgeous, fragile tenor voice full of tenderness and delicacy. That voice is put to use here on tunes that alternate between voice-and-ukelele solo performances ...

$13.15 *** Click on the GREEN or BLUE bars to the left so you can listen to the tunes while you read about them *** In 2004 David relocated to Nashville, TN. to write and record a new project with L.A.-based producer Marvin Etzioni (Counting Crows, Toad the Wet Sprocket). The record was completed in the last week of June, to include an all-star "A" list group of players from both Nashville and Los Angeles. The players included;Ken Coomer on drums (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo)Bob Glaub on bass (Jackson Browne, Bob Seger, Rod Stewart)Bucky Baxter on pedal steel, guitars, etc (Bob Dylan, R.E.M., Ryan Adams)John Catchings on cello (John Mayer, Dixie Chicks)Tammy Rogers on violin, backing vocals (Emmylou Harris, Neil Diamond)Duane Jarvis on eletric guitar (Lucinda Williams, John Prine)Jim Hoke on harmonica (Mark Knopfler, Ron Sexsmith)David's new recording "Everything to Lose", was released nationally in the fall of 2004, on EastSound Records. (Burnside Distribution)The eleven tracks on David's new recording demonstrate new heights of musical maturity and writing. This recording focuses very much around David's piano playing and intimate, breathy-tenor singing voice. "Everything to Lose" will surely draw new comparisons of musical style to his song-writing and has already stirred an industry buzz for large independent labels awaiting the release. David comes from an extensive background of both touring and recording, as a solo artist and with his super-successful indie-act CALOBO. During his near 15-year career, David has shared the stage with such acts as Jimmy Cliff, Jethro Tull, Indigo Girls, Sarah McGlachlan, Train, Dwight Yoakum, Little Feat, Vonda Shepard, String Cheese Incident, Ani DiFranco, Quiet Riot, Jorma Kaukoman, Tony Furtado, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and many more."Everything to Lose" marks the 8th release for David in his career. CALOBO released 5 records on Padre Records from 1991 to 2001, collectively selling nearly 85,000 copies. David's debut solo release "The Little Things" (Padre Records 1996) charted on three different Top 20 sales charts in the Northwest in its' first month. David's second release "Get Me Out of This Place" (Padre Records 2001) received substantial national attention via domestic AAA radio, ...

$15.19 For the uninitiated, this odds-and-sods collection of B-sides and demos also does well as an introduction to the low-gloss, sleepily atmospheric new wave that Jason Martin has been doing so well since the mid-1990s. Many of the songs appeared in full-band form on the 2008 release ...
