Although a couple of subsequently released albums have since chipped away at its all-inclusiveness, 1997s Chronicles of Chaos is still the most complete Sadus greatest-hits set available. Its seventeen tracks were culled from the San Francisco quartet's first three albums: Swallowed in Black ('90), Chemical Exposure ('91), and A Vision of Misery ('92) -- all of them combining to paint a revealing picture of thrash and speed metal's gradual transition into death metal. Since it was in fact released first, in 1988 and under the different title of Illusions, the mostly thrash-based Chemical Exposure is up first, and the six tracks representing it show an already very mature group of musicians -- particularly in terms of technical ability. Still, frantic offerings like "Sadus Attack" and "Torture" balance out these complexities with refreshingly brief running times; and additional fan favorites like "Certain Death" and "Undead" retain a deliciously jagged (as opposed to chunky) guitar attack -- a direct descendant of the aforementioned thrashing legacy. Next up, the truly transitional Swallowed in Black is slightly under-served here at only five tracks, but at least these include the memorably diverse career highlight "Arise" and the retro-thrashing Exodus-inspired "Powers of Hate." Finally, another six songs of mixed quality reflect the band's most unwaveringly death-like effort, A Vision of Misery, most notably the bass-happy "Through the Eyes of Greed" and the final adieu to thrash, "Valley of Dry Bones." Obviously, it'd be nice to eventually see later efforts included in an updated version, and a few entries from the band's legendary D.T.P. Demo 1986 (still considered their best work by many fans) would be greatly welcomed as well, but in every other respect, Chronicles of Chaos comprises the best possible first exposure to the work of Sadus. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia

Chronicles Of Chaos album
$12.89 Words cannot do this album enough justice. This is a truly glorious metal release, certainly Death's finest hour, and easily one of the top metal albums of all time. The sheer ferocity and emotion that channels through each of the intricate, progressive guitar melodies shatters every low opinion of the American metal scene. When you combine Chuck Schuldiner's shrieking vocals (his eeriest performance ever) with the most talented, cohesive lineup yet, you get the definitive Death album. This album delicately mixes the best aspects of past albums Human, Individual Thought Patterns, and ...

Chronicles Of Chaos songs
$8.85 Principally recorded at Electric Lady Studios C, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Billy Idol.
Digitally remastered using 20-bit technology by Bob Norberg (Capitol Mastering).
Especially once it was reissued in the US with Generation X's classic punk-pop single "Dancing with Myself" tacked on the end, Billy Idol's 1982 solo debut wore its ties to the British New Wave scene proudly. For his 1984 follow-up, however, Idol dropped those associations almost entirely and re-presented himself as a leather-clad hard-rocker. It's a fine distinction to be sure, but one that suited him; REBEL YELL is a superior album to its predecessor. Keith Forsey's crisp production perfectly suits the tougher new songs, and showcases ...

$9.95 Chris Connor's smoky voice made her a natural fit for torch songs, but her flair for improvisation expanded her considerable talents to include upbeat material as well. Free Spirits, an excellent small-group date arranged for her by Al Cohn, features Connor in a range of settings; remember, free spirits don't necessarily mean high spirits. The choices for ...

Chronicles Of Chaos album
$10.09 COMO AMA UNA MUJER, Jennifer Lopez's first all Spanish-language album, dropped to lukewarm reviews and the general sense that J. Lo was searching for a new direction and a new audience. | | Killers Sawdust CD (2007)
Chronicles Of Chaos CD music
$11.59 The Killers emerged in 2004 with a more pop-friendly version of the post-punk revival sound of Franz Ferdinand, the Rapture, et al., and their combination of arena-sized guitar-pop, candy-colored dance-rock, and Robert Smithian vocals (de rigueur for their peer group) made them stars. Three albums down the line, they prove to be more than a flash in the ...
