| | Bryan Adams CD Bryan Adams Discography of CDs
Recorded a few years before his breakthrough album, CUTS LIKE A KNIFE, Bryan Adams's self-titled debut finds the Canadian pop/rock singer/songwriter in a formative stage.
Made up of brisk, pop-perky guitar fair, Bryan Adams' first album gained a considerate amount of airplay in Canada, but his notoriety abroad was still a couple of albums away. At 21, Adams' voice sounds a whole lot younger than his age, but the album itself holds up well, comprised of simple but buoyant pop songs. The better tracks stem from the brisk but amicable "Hiding from Love," the well-sung "Give Me Your Love," and from the staunch keyboard zing of "Remember." But the other tracks are in no way disappointing, with "Win Some, Lose Some," "Wastin' Time," and "Don't Ya Say It" all containing a pleasurable albeit rudimentary pop formula. In his late teens, Adams had worked with writer Jim Vallance, collaborating and writing songs for Prism (who Vallance was a member of at one time) and Bachman-Turner Overdrive before he was signed to A&M. This partnership had payed off for Adams, and his musicianship and writing skills became stronger with each release. Although his big break came with the release of 1983's Cuts Like a Knife, an album that gave him his first three Top 40 singles, Bryan Adams makes for an interesting and entertaining debut, especially from a retrospective standpoint. His tapered guitar punch may still have been in the making, but it's obvious by the cuts on this album that he was destined to be a successful radio rocker. ~ Mike DeGagne
The blonde Canadian throaty singer's debut album was certainly a product of the times, with Adams trying dance music to the hilt and only hinting here at what was to come as he gained more confidence with his abilities and talent. Ahh, the glories of youth...

Purchase Bryan Adams CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Laurie Performance A Anderson Strange Angels CD (1989)
Bryan Adams album
$10.89 Long associated with the New York avant-garde scene, Anderson often works with her friends from the art set. Such artists as David van Tiegham, Anton Fier, Lenny Pickett, and Bobby McFerrin all perform on STRANGE ANGELS. The album's highlights include the keyboard/vocal combination of "The Dream Before," a sad song about Hansel and Gretel. Anderson imagines the fabled children after their infamous witch episode. Living in Berlin and unable to relate to one another without an adversary, history simply passes them by. The peaceful "Hiawatha," a spaciously-produced song, references Elvis Presley while gently proclaiming "Starlight, ...
| | Diamanda Galas Plague Mass (1984 End Of The Epidemic) CD (1991)
Bryan Adams CD music
$10.65 Diamanda Galas, who has been known for both her own work and as a singer of extremely demanding modern scores, created this heart-wrenching cry about the physical suffering caused by the AIDS plague being compounded by the shameful arrogance of self-appointed moralists. Maintaining an incredible intensity and depth for over an hour's solo vocal (recorded live at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, NYC, with suitably minimal band and electronics backup), Galas proceeds through Mahalia Jackson-influenced spiritual singing, saxophone-like wails, to dramatic dialogues in many dialects and languages ("there are no more tickets to the funeral") to engrossing Portuguese fado singing to taking on the attributes of Satan (in "Sono L'Antichristo," "I Am the Anti-Christ") in order to challenge the concept of a vengeful, instead of compassionate deity (and society), much as Nina Simone did in her ...
| | Krisiun Conquerors Of Armageddon CD (2000)
Bryan Adams music CDs
$8.99 Krisiun is not a band that puts a lot of emphasis on experimenting or on trying to achieve a radically original sound. Instead, they just keep on honing their attack, focusing on making their music even faster and heavier (to the narrow extent that that is possible). Conquerors of Armageddon is their third official album, and it is basically just a bigger and (arguably) better version of what you hear on their first two: Morbid Angel-influenced death metal that overflows with blasting drumbeats, guttural guitar/bass riffs, growled-out vocals, and completely over-the-top guitar solos. For those keeping ...
| | Tone-Loc Loc-Ed After Dark CD (1989)
Bryan Adams songs
$9.65 A forgotten man in the rise of West Coast rap, Tone-Loc was effectively cut off from his hometown scene in Los Angeles by his unexpected pop success. Paced by the singles "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina" -- both co-written by a pre-fame Young MC, and some of the earliest productions by the legendary Dust Brothers -- Loc's debut album, Loc-ed After Dark, became the second rap album to top the pop charts, following the Beastie Boys' Licensed to Ill. Loc's distinctively rough, raspy voice and easygoing delivery made him an appealing storyteller, but he was aiming for the streets more than the pop charts. So there's the occasional profanity, the stalker-tinged title track, and "Cheeba Cheeba," ...

Bryan Adams CD music
$15.69 This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
For its second outing THE YOUNG AND THE HOPELESS, Good Charlotte gives any notion of a sophomore jinx a combative boot to the side of the head thanks to an abundance of chanting choruses and choppy guitar riffs. Like standard-bearers Blink-182, this Maryland quartet frolics in a land of teen angst peppered with snarky optimism that comes across best within the margins of the rebellious "Anthem," rambunctious "Riot Girl" (no doubt a cousin of the Dead Milkmen's "Punk Rock Girl"), and Green Day-flavored title cut. Balancing out rambunctious fare like the Iggy ...
| | Terry Allen Smokin' The Dummy/Bloodlines CD (1997)
Bryan Adams music CDs
$15.35 This album combines two previously released albums, SMOKIN THE DUMMY and BLOODLINES on one disc.
A combination of Terry Allen's 1980 and 1983 Fate Records releases, with songs that range from almost-traditional country done with a very untraditional attitude all the way out to thump-in-the-ear rock moments. The 18 cuts here don't represent Allen at his level best, but they do provide a fine sampling of his songwriting approach, with some great moments. Allen can be decidedly subversive at times, and in-your-face at others, and it can almost be guaranteed that some of the twists he tosses out here will not be seen coming. Some songs will definitely induce heavy breathing and a feeling of having looked a bit too closely at the hell mouth -- "Ourland" achieves that with ease. It's often less about having the world's foibles pointed out than having a bright light shone on the world's more arcane lies. On the other hand, there's also the song about Jesus carrying out a carjacking. Terry ...
| | Air Supply Now & Forever CD (1982) Import
Bryan Adams songs
$9.79 Now and Forever was Air Supply's last platinum album in America. Like all of the duo's albums, it has an uneven selection of material; the best songs were the singles -- "Even the Nights Are Better" and "Two Less Lonely People in the World." Even when the group performs weak material, they sound fine, but the lack of first-rate ...

| | Simon & Garfunkel Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme CD (1966)
Bryan Adams CD music
$6.85 From the opening finely-woven tapestry, "Scarborough Fair/Canticle," to the closing wake-up call, "7 O'Clock News/Silent Night," Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel present a powerful statement--theirs was to be the new standard in contemporary rock. These harmonies were not those of the fun-loving Beach Boys, and these two New Yorkers weren't singing about girls in bikinis. They sang about women who read Emily Dickinson. Intellectual folk-based rock flourished in this classic collection written by the poet-of-the-moment, Paul Simon. The chemistry between Paul's warm, low tenor and Art's high, airy, etheral tenor was an unrivaled mix, creating a precise harmonic exchange that lent itself perfectly ...
