Complete Velvets
$18.69 2007 digitally remastered two-fer featuring a double dose of Bryan Hyland on one shiny disc. Both Rockin' Folk and Joker Went Wild were released on Liberty Records in the mid '60s. Comes housed in a slipcase and features extensive liner notes. BGO.
Audio Remasterer: Andrew Thompson . Liner Note Author: Malcolm Whitby. This two-fer assembles a pair of mid-'60s LPs recorded by Brian Hyland for the Liberty label. As post-British Invasion pop zigged, the former teen idol zagged, channeling the influence of traditional American roots music to create the most thoughtful and personal ...
| | Henri Texier Colonel Skopje CD (1988)
Complete Velvets
$9.19 Recorded in France in 1988 and released in the U.S. in 1995, Colonel Skopje is a good example of what could be described as "post-bop with fusion references." This CD isn't full-fledged fusion; it isn't as consistently rock-influenced and funk-minded as -- just to give two 1980s examples -- Miles Davis' Tutu or Scott Henderson's Dr. Hee. But at the same time, French bassist Henri Texier isn't one of those dogmatic ...
| | Kano Greatest Hits CD (1990) (Import) Canada
Complete Velvets
$19.49 Perhaps more than most other groups in their field -- due to both excellence and the length of their discography -- Kano exemplified Italo-disco, the strain of dance music that featured production work from Italians who were, for the most part, descendants of Giorgio Moroder and Claudio Simonetti. Italo-disco helped take dance music into completely synthesized territory and had a profound effect on early Chicago house and Detroit techno producers ...

Complete Velvets
$8.85 The Exies: Scott Stevens (vocals, guitar); Dave Walsh (guitar); Freddy Herrera (bass instrument); Dennis Wolfe (drums). Personnel: Christopher Wade Damerst (programming, loops). Audio Mixers: Chris Lord-Alge; Joe Barresi; Randy Staub . Recording information: Grandmaster Recorders, Hollywood, CA; Sound City Studios, Van Nuys, CA. Photographers: Jeff Garner; Chapman Baehler. The Exies' approach worked well enough on 2003's Inertia, where tracks like "My Goddess" and "Can't Relate" blended brash, grime, slick, and hook for a 21st century blend of Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots. Head for the Door is the L.A. combo's second effort for Virgin, and it leaves that sound largely unchanged, even if some variety or experimentation beyond their middlebrow rock sound might've been more interesting. Openers "Slow Drain" and "Splinter" offer grimy, ascending guitar leads as guides for Scott Stevens' Cobain-derived rasp, and "Ugly," "My Opinion," and "What You Deserve" carry the formula through. Lyrically, Stevens is as self-possessed and bitter as any post-grunge frontman. "Are you like me, are you ugly," he sings in the lead single; "I'm to blame, and ...
