Maria De Bahia
$16.39 Michael Earhart, one of the best guitar players in North Texas, is currently playing acoustic fingerstyle guitar; however, over the last 34 years he's played just about every style there is, in almost every type of venue imaginable. A veteran of radio and television performance, he spent the fall of 2001 at Pineapple Recording Studios in Arlington, Texas, laying down tracks for his first radio-ready release, the solo work 'Surface Tension.' Michael is a 2002 Regional Champion in Guitar Center's Guitarmageddon contest. He competed with seven other guitarists at the National Finals at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 11, 2002. Opening the concert for The Smithereens on the Hall Of Fame main stage, he and his fellow musicians wowed the standing room only audience.'Surface Tension', an instrumental collection, has been in heavy rotation on European and South American radio. The first track on the album, '(The Only Good) Fire Ant...' reached #1 on the Acoustic Chart during the week of May 29, 2002 at MP3.com. '...Fire Ant...' was recently nominated for Best Instrumental by Just Plain Folks, an organization of over 25,000 musicians ...

| | Cristina Prez Madiedo Madiedo,Cristina Prez Vol. 2-Eliot Fisk Guitar Series CD (2008)
Maria De Bahia
$11.39 When we inaugurated the Eliot Fisk Guitar Series at VGo Recordings, our idea was to give a forum for talented young players just starting their careers. In particular we wanted to give a chance to those gifted young players who have come to our attention through Boston GuitarFest (www.bostonguitarfest.org), the annual festival that takes place each June through the good offices of the New England Conservatory and Northeastern University. With the present CD, Cristina Pérez Madiedo continues this tradition with a selection of pieces from Latin America, all reflective in some way of the rich folk traditions that have nurtured so-called “serious music” for so long. Antonio Lauro´s Seis por Derecho (literally, “six (steps) to the right” - a call for a series of steps in Venezuelan folk dancing) was first made famous in the spontaneous, (half improvised!) interpretation of the great Alirio Diaz. Carlos Farinas´s Canción de Laura, the other single piece on Cristina´s CD, shows the eminent Cuban composer of many large works for all manner of instruments in a particularly intimate mood. Interwoven with these arresting shorter works are three tripartite sets of pieces: from Eduardo Martin of Cuba: Preludio, Son y Allegro; from Paraguayan guitar legend, Agustin Barrios: Vals Op. 8, No.4; the barcarola, Julia Florida; and the famous tremolo study, Sueño en la Floresta (“Dream in the Forest”) and finally the epic Sonata of Leo Brouwer, a phantasmagorical ...
