| | Deep Forest Boheme CD - Import Deep Forest Discography of CDs
The two producers who are Deep Forest are folklorists with keyboards and samplers and visions of one world. Instead of traveling back-country roads and recording native singers on their home turf, they comb the world of recorded music and sample the natives; and instead of presenting them as they are, they mix and match them and supply the beats themselves. Following a debut that was based on Pygmy music from Central Africa, BOHEME scans the landscape of Eastern Europe and Asia for the exotic sounds of throat singing, cantorial chanting and Hungarian folk melodies. Add in ambient dance tracks and keyboards blips, and you have Tuvan techno.
The star voice on BOHEME belongs to Transylvanian singer Marta Sebestyen, whose records are sampled on some tracks and who sings directly on others. On "Bulgarian Melody," the producers drop out the beats altogether to showcase her mesmerizing, folk-ish throat singing. "Deep Folk Song" is a sprightly, accordion-based folk dance, spiced with high, otherwordly vocal chants; it tips the balance, momentarily, away from techno and toward the local culture. "Cafe Europa" stretches the album's landscape to include an American Indian chant, and the seamless way it merges into the techno beat suggest Deep Forest's true message: that two very different local cultures might just be parts of one much bigger culture.
BOHEME, the 12 track album from Deep Forest, returns in this reissue from Australia.
Much like Deep Forest's debut album, Boheme is a combination of club music and worldbeat. While the album is certainly danceable, it works better as trance-inducing mood music, although it isn't quite as consistent as the debut. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Q (8/95, p.119) - 3 Stars - Good - "...BOHEME....[features a] greater emphasis on East European musics. If it's cultural tourism, then the scenery is very pretty. Heart-stopping melodies abound even if the Euro-rock arrangements recall Jean-Michel Jarre's designer banalities..." Boheme Review

Boheme album
$38.09 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive Allman Brothers collection nor the gift to hardcore fans that, say, THE BOOTLEG SERIES is to Dylan-philes.
DREAMS' strengths are considerable. First and foremost, the box contains nearly five wall-to-wall hours of great music. By including everything from early demos to Gregg Allman and Dickie Betts' solo material, DREAMS does a great job of tracing the group's musical evolution from hippie blues band to kings of Southern rock. And, while the unreleased studio version of "Statesboro Blues" included here isn't definitive, it's still mighty ...
| | Poco Forgotten Trail (1969-74) CDs (1990)
Boheme CD music
$15.29 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from Poco's first eight albums, as well as unreleased cuts and singles. From the classic anthem "Pickin' Up the Pieces," which kicks things off, through "You Better Think Twice," "C'mon," "Kind Woman," "From the Inside," "A Good Feelin' to Know," "Crazy Eyes," and on and on, this is wonderful music, ahead of its time in many ways. If Poco had arrived on the scene in the early '90s, they would have been kings of the country charts. Of course, without Poco, country music wouldn't have taken on the rock trappings that it did in the '80s and '90s. As it was, the band ...

| | Doors Legacy: The Absolute Best CDs (1967)
Boheme songs
$19.79 Recorded between 1967 & 1983. Includes liner notes by Jim Ladd.
Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Doors album, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS supercedes all former Doors compilations. At two discs and 34 tracks, this is quite comprehensive for a band whose key lineup released only half a dozen albums. In addition to all the expected hits like "Light My Fire," "Hello I Love You," and "Roadhouse Blues," this compilation delves much deeper into the catalogue with fan favorites such as "Not To Touch the Earth" and "Wishful Sinful," as well as a handful of previously obscure rarities. Remastered and newly remixed by original engineer Bruce Botnick and the surviving members of the Doors, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS is a solid tribute to the band.
The first Doors album was an important development in the evolution of rock, representing the dark underbelly of the '60s counterculture, the Jekyll to the Beatles/Beach Boys' Hyde. The Doors were the antithesis of windblown Californian pop. Dark, brooding and alienated, every element of the quartet's metier was unveiled on their debut album. In Jim Morrison they posessed one of rock's authoritative voices, while the group's dense instrumental prowess reflected ...
| | Santana Best Instrumentals CD (1998) (Import) Germany
Boheme album
$9.19 This German import compiles the instrumental work of the Latin rock-jam band, Santana; includes the amazing "Soul Sacrifice" as seen/heard in the movie WOODSTOCK.
Picking out the best instrumentals from Carlos Santana's thirty-year recording career is a daunting task at best, and a fan can certainly find reasons to disagree with some of the choices made in this collection. However, this German release is valuable in bringing together undisputed Santana classic guitar pieces like "Europa (Earth's Cry Heaven's Smile)," "Samba Pa Ti," "Flor D'Luna (Moonflower)" and "Soul Sacrifice" with lesser known masterworks like "Aqua Marine" and the superb "Song of the Wind." ...

| | Justin Timberlake Justified CD (2002) (Import) Bonus Track; Australia
Boheme music CDs
$15.25 JUSTIFIED won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. The album was also nominated for Album Of The Year. "Cry Me A River" won for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
JUSTIFIED may represent Justin Timberlake's attempt to break out of the boy band mold and be taken seriously as a musician, but N Sync and, more specifically, ex-beau Britney Spears continue to serve as red flag reminders of these specific times. Ballads like "Never Again" and "Nothin' Else" bear the markings of classic break-up songs but, far from licking his wounds throughout the rest of this debut, Timberlake includes a number of cuts that celebrate being single including the Timbaland-produced cut "Right for Me" and equally the thumping "Rock Your Body." Other names this teen idol nabbed in a quest for credibility are red-hot producers the Neptunes and P. Diddy.
In keeping an R&B element as the touchstone for this debut, Timberlake dishes out a number of surprisingly stellar songs including the very mellow, Stevie Wonder-flavored "Nothin' Else," Latin-soaked "Senorita," and infectious "Like I Love You." ...

| | Tarrus Riley Parables CD (2006)
Boheme CD music
$9.45 Tarrus Riley's contemporized roots reggae comes with a pedigree: his father is the Jamaican singer Jimmy Riley, best known for his early-'80s album Love and Devotion and its classy cover of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing." The younger Riley stays close to the themes of Rasta, righteousness and romanticism on this likable set, but he's young and worldly enough to go beyond the clichés, both musical and lyrical. The songwriting on Parables is tightly constructed, melodic, smart and accessible, and while the themes are familiar, Riley is willing to inject some pop gloss into his music, avoiding the sanctimoniousness that often drives away non-devotees of hardcore reggae. He doesn't overdo it with the Rasta rhetoric, and although there are more than a few direct references to Bob Marley lyrics in Riley's own, he never gives the impression that he's following in anyone's footsteps. Like most Rasta artists, Riley does rail against Babylon, but then in "Micro Chip," he cautions just ...
