| | Steve Oliver One Night Live CDs (2008)
Cast Of Aspersions music CDs
$10.09 Cynics who don't get smooth jazz -- and wonder why thousands of passionate genre fans spend their hard-earned money every year on the genre's many festivals and cruises -- just listen to the radio too much. No matter how catchy the songs are, the airwaves just don't capture the potential magic and fire of a live performance. That goes for most of the format's big artists, but few have been as compelling on-stage as the multi-talented Steve Oliver, whose soulful vocals and snappy guitar lines are just the beginning of what is essentially a one-man orchestra capable of numerous sonic delights; these include wild and crazy vocal percussion, breezy wordless vocal joys, and -- as evidenced by the "Guitar Demonstration" of this exciting live CD/DVD package -- a synth guitar that can simulate everything from a grand piano to bass, flute, and orchestrated strings. In the economic climate of the late 2000s, a dual package like this seemed like a calculated commercial risk. But as wildly compelling as Oliver's instantly infectious songs are on the ears, the visual entertainment he provides and the way his grateful audience responds (at any of his 200-plus performances annually) make a DVD of one of his classic performances (at the State Theatre in Modesto, CA) a must. Oliver doesn't go crazy finding new twists on instrumental hits like "Magic World" and "Chips and Salsa," but they are still some of smooth jazz's best songs and are always fun to hear. On classics like "I Know" and new tunes like "Fearless," he also shows his penchant for romantic lead vocals. The title of one of the package's later uptempo tracks, the breezy ...

| | Brian Arrowood & Friends CD (2009)
Cast Of Aspersions CD music
$16.45 Born in Western North Carolina on August 22, 1981, Brian Arrowood has had a vision from day one. When asked about growing up playing music, he responds, "When you're grandfather's the best fiddler around, you better show 'em how it's done". This bio is not about Brian's childhood playing music, however unique it might have been. In fact, it's what Brian has accomplished since then that has got people talking. The following link will take you to Brian and Charlie Daniels on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_apHCVEmPiw Check out brianarrowood.com as well. A gifted violinist, Brian has played the "fiddle" all of his life, learning from his grandfather. The first full-time gig Brian has had is at the world famous theme park/musical extravaganza known as Dollywood. Brian was about to turn 19 when he took the job. Playing country music was now how Mr. Arrowood made a living. He played this show for a few years, then moved on. At 21 he began playing full-time in what some would call the best show in Pigeon Forge, Country Tonite. You might recognize the name of that theatre; there is another in Branson, MO. During this time, Brian Arrowood was called to record for Chartbuster Karaoke Recordings. Side note: If you go out to sing Karaoke, chances are you will be singing with a Chartbuster Track. Brian has played on these since he was 21, and now records the parts in his own studio. A google search will show how huge the Chartbuster market has become. And Country, what Mr. Arrowood plays on, is their top market. As stated, Brian worked at Country Tonite when he was 21, or the year 2003. The next year, around October, he was offered a job playing in a multi-million dollar Christmas Show in Nashville, TN called the Holiday Spectacular. It was to be held at the Bellsouth Acuff Theatre, located next to the Grand Ole Opry. This was a classical show with an entire orchestra including trumpets, trombones, and saxophones. It's obvious now Brian's talents are not limited to just Country. ...
