(1 Customer Review)
Personnel includes: Billie Holiday (vocals); Teddy Wilson Orchestra; Artie Shaw Orchestra; Eddie Heywood Orchestra; Count Basie Orchestra; Frankie Newton Orchestra. Recorded between 1935 and 1944. Includes liner notes by David Lennick. Liner Note Author: David Lennick. Pulled from old 78s, this isn't the place to start your Billie Holiday collection by a long shot. But this two-disc set is a pretty great overview of Lady Day's rise to greatness, featuring her own early sessions as well as her guest spots on a number of small- and big-band sides. Disc one finds her working with Teddy Wilson, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, and Eddie Heywood, while the second disc continues the thread with more sides with Wilson and Heywood, plus stray tracks with Paul Whiteman, Frankie Newton, and on her own. A nice chunk of early Lady Day. ~ Cub Koda The Best of Billie Holiday (Intersound) Music The Best of Billie Holiday (Intersound) Songs | | The Best of Billie Holiday (Intersound) CD DISC 1: |

The Best of Billie Holiday (Intersound)
$14.69 Audio Mixer: Todd Whitelock. Photographer: Raj Naik. Detroit comprises a six-composition suite commissioned for the 2009 thirtieth anniversary Detroit International Jazz Festival, played in the studio with musicians from composer/arranger Gerald Wilson's Los Angeles home or New York City area. Curiously, there are no Motor City-based players on the disc, but the themes are based in certain locales from the industrial Midwestern City that has fallen on hard economic times but played a pivotal role in the development of Wilson's highly developed skills as a composer, arranger, and bandleader. A quite spirited and energetic music is heard here from the 90-year-old Wilson, whose ...

$8.39 On a cold winter's night, February 10, 1996, to be exact, two young lads (Jon Kashetta and Chad Wright) perchance to start recording humorous audio snippets for their own amusement utilizing keyboards, electronic toys, hoots, hollars, and screams. Anything in sight was a percussion instrument...Fast forward to today; well... pretty much the same, except 10 times louder. Beer and Pretzels is now Kashetta on guitars/vocals and Wright on guitars/vocals/keyboards/samples along ...
