| Christmas Album Music Review Purchase Christmas Album CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Sarah McLachlan Wintersong CD (2006)
Christmas Album album
$9.29 Sarah McLachlan's WINTERSONG is a holiday album, yet it eschews the sprightly, sparkly feel of most seasonal releases. Instead, McLachlan sticks to the moody, adult contemporary folk sound for which she's known, bringing a reflective, occasionally melancholy atmosphere to a range of popular and ...
| | Time-Life Treasury Of Christmas: Holiday Memories CDs (2002)
Christmas Album CD music
$16.19 The folks at Time-Life should know how to put together a collection of holiday music, they've been doing it for a long time. Attesting to that legacy is the fact that many of the tunes on TREASURY OF CHRISTMAS reach back to the golden age of American pop music. This generous two-disc collection is dominated by chestnuts (forgive the pun) by the likes of Bing Crosby ("Do You Hear What I Hear"), Nat "King" Cole ("Hark The Herald Angels Sing"), and the irrepressible Dean Martin (the carefree "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!").
However, it's not all old news on this ...
| | Dean Martin Christmas With Dino CD (2004)
Christmas Album music CDs
$16.39 Although high-living Rat Packer Dean Martin may not be the first figure one associates with the holidays, the entertainer's place in American iconography is fixed, making a Christmas record as natural as spiked eggnog and lingering under the mistletoe. CHRISTMAS WITH DINO is compiled from two earlier Martin Christmas albums (a 1953 single entitled "The Christmas Blues," the set's earliest recording, is also here). Though there are alternate versions of some songs--"White Christmas" and "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" are included in their 1959 and 1966 renditions--the record moves along with the panache and swing one expects from Dino.
The arrangements are nicely balanced between big-band swing ("I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm") and string-sweetened mainstream fare ("Silver Bells"), keeping the vibe hip and traditional at once. (The choir on Martin's version of "Silent Night" adds just the right touch of reverence to the swinging ...
| | Elvis Presley Elvis: Blue Christmas CD (1992)
Christmas Album songs
$6.29 Over the course of his career, Elvis Presley recorded two complete Christmas albums. The first, 1957's ELVIS' CHRISTMAS ALBUM, quickly entered the pantheon of the all-time greatest seasonal discs. The second, 1971's ELVIS SINGS THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF CHRISTMAS is nearly as good. Every few years, RCA Records compiles a variety of songs from these two records to produce a "new" Elvis Christmas album. BLUE CHRISTMAS, released in 1992 (and re-released in 2007) is one such record.
Half of BLUE CHRISTMAS's eight tracks are drawn from the King's first Christmas album, among them the title track, the lovely seasonal ...

$12.25 | | Rosemary Clooney Songs From White Christmas (And Other Yuletide Favorites) CD (1997)
Christmas Album album
$5.99 All the material on Songs from White Christmas (And Other Yuletide Favorites) was recorded in the mid-'50s, when Rosemary Clooney was at something of a peak. Her voice was supple, her popularity high, and she was working with such luminaries as Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington. Here, she doesn't flex her jazz muscles, which is only appropriate since holiday music sounds best when it's delivered straight. And Songs from White Christmas is certainly delivered straight, complete with lush orchestras and sweet arrangements. That approach results in a lovely, warm-hearted ...
| | Kitaro Live In America CD (1991)
Christmas Album CD music
$11.20 Recorded live at the Fox Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia on April 25, 1990.
Captured during his 1990 world tour, this live recording from Atlanta's Fox Theater showcases some of Kitaro's best moments of the '70s and '80s, including "Silk Road," from the soundtrack to the popular BBC production of the same name, and "Caravansary" from his 1975 debut, ASIA.
Kitaro also recreates, in almost exact sequence, tracks from his concurrent album, KOJIKI. Although they don't differ significantly from their studio versions, these tracks are enriched by the energy of the live setting. "Nageki," with its Phillip Glass-like fractal measures and searching melody, especially benefits from the ecstatic interplay between Kitaro's accomplished band.
Recorded live during his world tour in 1990, it features music from Kojiki, The Light of the Spirit and his much admired, Silk Road album. The Grammy and Golden Globe-winning Kitaro has garnered global acclaim over a more than three decade long career with a signature sound and a pioneering fusion of cultures, techniques and spheres of consciousness that are truly his own.His latest project, the third in a series of a collection of works and peace-themed albums (Vol. 1 released in 2003; Vol. 2 in 2005) is inspired by the classic Buddhist pilgrimage to the 88 sacred temples on Japan’s remote Shikoku Island. A journey taken by the beloved Buddhist monk Ku-kai over a millennium ago , through the music contained in Sacred Journey of KuKai III, Kitaro continues to explore uncharted waters with his magnificently expansive vision and ever-questing ...
