Mental Game Messiah album
$17.09 This is part of Castle Records "N.W.O.B.H.M. Classic" series.
History has shown that Bristol, England's Jaguar only deserved consideration within the second (or maybe third) tier of New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands: capable followers of trailblazing groups like Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, and Saxon, whose efforts were commercial flops but surely influential to a small number of future rock stars. Indeed, at least early on the band was pure, spitting adrenalin, as exemplified by speedy proto-thrashers like the brilliantly raw, pre-Neat single "Back Street Woman," and equally outrageous follow-ups "Axe Crazy" and "War Machine." And although the unnecessary polish had already begun to set in, the band's debut album proper, 1982's Power Games, was by all rights quite a scorcher. With standout cuts such as "Dutch Connection" and "Ain't No Fantasy" positively bulging at the seams with crazed excitement, it's deservedly included in its entirety on this anthology. Especially since Jaguar's 1984 sophomore album, This Time proved such an unmitigated disaster. Making the mistake of many heavy metal acts under the sway of well-intentioned but ultimately clueless managers and record companies, ...

Mental Game Messiah CD music
$10.69 Hamburg natives Paragon often get automatically lumped into the power metal category because they play metal that's both melodic and filled with "Dungeons & Dragons" lyrics; but they could just as accurately be described as a "heritage" metal act, thanks to parallels in earlier bands like Dio, Manilla Road, and Germany's own Grave Digger, as much as the thrash-infused, post-Helloween set. Really, such particulars matter little, other than to highlight the fact that their albums -- including 2005's Revenge, their sixth overall -- possess a decidedly "retro," 1980s feel about them, harking back to heavy metal's simpler, more innocent, and romanticized infancy. Or, as detractors might describe it: it means their lyrics are pretty dumb, with the aforementioned D&D themes regularly culminating in the painfully basic one-word choruses (ŕ la Grim Reaper) of opening trio "Impaler," "Assassins," and "Traitor" -- not to mention the title track. The nine-minute epic "Masters of the Seas" is thankfully significantly more elaborate and dredges up memories of swashbuckling pirate metal troupe Running Wild, to boot, while majestic, slower-paced anthems such as "Symphony of Pain" and "Empire of the Lost" wear their Saxon influences proudly on their sleeves. Polish it all off with a few ...

Mental Game Messiah CD music
$21.39 In the Summer of 2004, long-time friends Tomas Olsson and Fredrik Bergh decided to go back to their musical roots and start a metal band, they teamed up with Urban Breed and Oskar Belin to form Bloodbound. A demo was made and shipped off to a bunch of record labels around the world in order to get a record-deal. After a couple of weeks the offers started to drop in and the band was overwhelmed by the great response they had gotten. A record-deal was signed with Metal Heaven for the European territory. In 2005 they started the recordings of their debut album “Nosferatu” which was released in early 2006, and became a big success with top reviews around the world. Straight after the recordings Oskar Belin left the band because he didn’t have the time to go on tour and play live, Pelle Åkerlind (Morgana Lefay) was added to the line-up to replace him. The album took them on tour playing gigs with bands like Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, Evergrey, Pretty Maids and Sabaton to name a few. During the “Nosferatu” tour they had some “in and out members” including Kristian Andrén (Wuthering Heights, Memento Mori, Tad Morose), Johan Sohlberg (The Storyteller), Jörgen Andersson (Baltimoore) and Markus Albertson (Seven Sins). At the end of the tour Urban Breed decided to leave the band to focus a 100% on his solo project. After a very turbulent and hectic year they really felt that they needed some stability in the band and asked Tomas’ younger brother Henrik Olsson to join the band as a permanent ...
