This recording makes me roll on the floor with laughter every time I listen. Maybe I appreciate it more b/c I'm a musician, but I will tell you the fact that these are genuinely great musicians makes me appreciate it even more

Of key singing, art and entertainment
When you know that a singer is very good and then hear this CD one can not think otherwise than these songs are very clever performed.
For years I recorded this kind of stuff from the radio. I was very pleased to find this CD.

Jonathan and Darlene bring a certain new
style and twist to some old standards on this
CD. When you play this disk you may think that your CD player has developed a fault
but keep listening, because it is not your machine, just the wonderful artistry of these two performers.
You will certainly not realise who is singing
and playing the piano, surely these two have
never appeared in public.
Well, the answer is that playing the piano
is none other than Paul Weston and singing is
his wife Jo Stafford, only don't tell anyone
else, keep the secret.
You are in for some gorgeous entertainment.

As the title indicates, THE COMPLETE PUBLISHED SIDES VOLUME 1: 1935-1940 features both sides of all 50 singles Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys released in their first five years. It's the birth of Western swing in precise chronological order, from Wills's first trademark "Ah-haaa!" yelp on "Sunbonnet Sue" to the band's swinging take on the ballad standard "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" a half-decade later. SOLD OUT was recorded in New York City in February, 1960. STRING ALONG WITH THE KINGSTON TRIO was recorded at Capitol's Studio B, Los Angeles in July, 1960.
By 1959, the Kingston Trio had reached mass popularity, won a Grammy, and had even begun to record their music in stereo. While their reign as the world's most popular folk act remained unchallenged, many within the folk community were critical of the group. Writers in magazines like Sing Out! argued that the trio's music had little to do with "real" folk music. Their smooth harmonies and evasion of political controversies placed them at odds with the spirit of Woody Guthrie and the aesthetic of the Anthology of American Folk Music. Like the Weavers before them, however, their fans could have cared less. Even though an effort like Sold Out found the group basically sticking to the formula of earlier albums, their fans kept it on the Top 40 for 54 weeks. The follow up, String Along, became their fifth studio album in a row to go to number one. A number of nice cuts grace both albums, including the humorous "Bad Man's Blunder," the driving "Leave My Woman Alone," and the Mexican-flavored "El Matador." Upon further thought, though, Nelson's laid-back sensibility, subtle
rhythmic lilt, and stoner image make his reggae album, COUNTRYMAN, seem in retrospect like an inevitability.
