(1 Customer Review)
Not to be confused with the 2005 Caroline compilation of the same name, 1998's THE VERY BEST OF HUMAN LEAGUE (released on the Ark 21 label) offers a non-chronological overview of the refined British synth-pop act, ranging from 1978's moody "Being Boiled" to '95's sunny "One Man in My Heart." In between, of course, are the ensemble's biggest '80s hits, including the buoyant "Don't You Want Me" and the playful "(Keep Feeling) Fascination," which showcase the deep croon of singer Philip Oakey and the vibrant backing vocals of Susanne Sulley and Joanne Catherall. The disc also includes one of Oakey's mid-'80s songs with disco guru Giorgio Moroder, the surging "Together in Electric Dreams," which was recorded while the group was on hiatus. Although the later Caroline collection does feature more tracks (including many presented here), this anthology is ideal for those seeking a concise introduction to Human League or fans wanting to bypass the band's post-'90s material.
Compilation featuring hits, album tracks and lesser-known singles from the Synthpop band from Sheffield who brought Electronic Pop music to a new level of commercial acceptability during the ever-changing '80s. Fronted by vocalist Phil Oakey, the Human League's hit years saw the five-piece Dare line-up trim down to a trio by the end of the decade, although their hits just kept on a-comin'! Their influence can still be felt in modern Electronica and Dance music that fills the charts and clubs today. 16 tracks including 'Love Action (I Believe In Love)', 'Mirror Man', 'Heart Like A Wheel', 'Seconds', 'Louise' and 'Human'. Emi Gold.
Includes liner notes by Paul Morley.
Human League: Ian Craig-Marsh, Martin Ware, Philip Adrian Wright, Joe Callis, Philip Oakey, Susan Sulley, Joanne Catherall, Neil Sutton, Russell Dennett, Jim Russell, Ian Burden.
Producers include: Human League, Martin Rushent, Ian Stanley, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis.

Very Best Of The Human League music CDs
$11.35 Counting Crows were nominated for a 1995 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. "Round Here" was nominated for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
With their stunning craftsmanship and a classic sound DEEPLY rooted in whistlestop America, the anthems and rural overtones which distinguish the songs on AUGUST AND EVERYTHING AFTER evoke the same kind of visceral reaction which once greeted The Band. But AUGUST AND EVERYTHING AFTER is not an exercise in nostalgia.
Some listeners have reacted to vocalist Adam Duritz's gruff, ecstatic vocals in the way they once responded to such dark angels of revelation and regret as Van Morrison and Michael Stipe. On "Time And Time Again," Duritz conjures up a startling sense of longing and loneliness, as the listener is drawn in and consumed ...
| | Kevin Crawford In Good Company CD (2001)
Very Best Of The Human League songs
$13.85 Kevin Crawford is one of the most gifted flutists currently playing traditional Irish music; his work as a member of Moving Cloud and, currently, with Lunasa has garnered him praise from critics on both sides of the Atlantic, and his debut solo album was, if anything, even better than his ensemble recordings. For his sophomore effort he elected to create a program of fiddle and flute duets with fiddlers ...

Loose and spontaneous, this (mainly) live album is a meeting of three of the greatest guitarists in the world for an acoustic summit the likes of which the guitar-playing community rarely sees. Broken up into three duo and two trio performances, Friday Night in San Francisco catches all three players at the peaks of their quite formidable powers. The first track features Al di Meola and Paco de Lucía teaming up for a medley of di Meola's "Mediterranean Sundance" (first recorded by the duo on di Meola's classic 1976 ...
