More Greatest Hits album
$13.29 Released without the usual flurry of hype, Before I Self Destruct fulfills 50 Cent's contractual obligation to the Interscope label. It also doubles as a throwback album, returning the rapper to the hunger and hatred of his early mixtapes while skillfully recasting him as a wannabe upstart. That is, for the most part. The four radio-friendly bedroom numbers that conclude the album are out of place but fairly good to dime-piece beautiful, with the best being the Ne-Yo showcase "Baby by Me" ("Have a baby by me, baby/Be a millionaire"). As pleasing as these final numbers are, if you leave the room after the macho bruiser "I Got Swag" ("I'm infinitely special/Girl the Lord is gonna bless you/If you do what I tell you ...

| | As One So Far (So Good) CDs (2003)
More Greatest Hits album
$14.65 There are reasons to be skeptical of Kirk Degiorgio. In interviews, he often comes off as a jazz snob with strictly defined parameters of what constitutes proper music. In self-penned liner notes, listeners have been notified of the historical nature of his productions, and have also been instructed to "savour their importance." Important -- OK, whatever, but are they any good? Are they enjoyable to listen to? Do they have the ability to move you? Are they the least bit innovative? The answer to all of these questions is yes. Across two discs, So Far (So Good), an anthology documenting Degiorgio's work as As One, provides an argument for these answers as strong as any other. It appeals to disciples and newcomers alike with previously released material -- most of which is strong -- included within a set of selections that glean from each As One album, with the unfortunate exception of Planetary Folklore. Degiorgio has left plenty of goods behind during the years documented here, all of which help solidify the producer as one of techno's most crucial and vital. There's enough room for most of his facets to be highlighted, from equally forceful and nimble breakbeat workouts ("The Electric Hymn," "If It Ain't Broke") to stomping house-oriented tracks ("Epic," "We No Longer Understand") to romantically ...
| | North Elementary Lose Your Favorite Things CD (2004)
More Greatest Hits CD music
$10.19 North Elementary expanded from a quartet to a sextet for their second album, Lose Your Favorite Things. The sound, however, remained pretty similar to their debut Out of Phase -- indie rock that was wide-ranging in its songwriting moods and instrumental timbres, without producing anything astounding or enormously distinctive. Sometimes the guitars have ...

| | Wes Mcclelland When I Think Of Him CD (2006)
More Greatest Hits songs
$17.09 Wes McClelland - Biography 2006:Four years ago in August 2001, Wes McClelland was on the verge of fulfilling his dream. Wes, then 28 years old, was ready to literally break out in song. With previous financial investors in place and an album of 11 original songs ready for manufacturing, Wes was prepared to begin his professional career as a country singer-songwriter. Signed to Sun Entertainment, which owned the legendary Sun Records and Plantation Records, Wes felt this was the perfect fit for him and his brand of country music. For a young man from the small Southeast Texas town of Orange, this was big!really BIG!Then on September 11, 2001, everyone's plans changed. With the devastating tragedy to the World Trade Center, businesses were hesitant to make any new moves. Sun Entertainment and Wes' investment team decided to delay the release of his inaugural album for about 6 months to let the financial community settle down and so they did.In December 2001 tragedy hit closer to home. Wes' dad, his greatest fan, suffered a heart attack and passed away. With the passing of his dad, Wes decided to pack it in and return to his hometown of Orange to be near his mother, Judy and the rest of his family. Shortly after moving home, Wes went to his record company, investors and everyone involved in his career to explain why he had decided to back out of the project. 'It was an extremely difficult decision,' Wes said, but the passion he held for his music for so long was no longer in him. In February of 2002, Wes went to his friend and lone remaining investor and asked for some help retaining the rights to his master recordings. Wes needed to use the remaining funds to purchase the original recordings of his album from Sun Entertainment. So, without hesitation his friend and business partner allowed him to return to Nashville, TN and arranged for Wes to purchase the rights to his music. Although Wes didn't even have a completed copy of the album, he now owned the rights to his music. In late February, 2002 Wes and his wife Michelle moved back to Orange from Houston, where she was working as a professional in the recruiting industry, while Wes pursed his ...
