Best Of album
$12.78 On an inside panel of the booklet for House Full of Floors, Evan Parker's second release for John Zorn's Tzadik imprint (and his third album of 2009), he writes simply of the session as if framing a poem: "The plan was to / record the trio. / Aleks Kolkowski / came to make some / wax cylinder recordings / and he stayed / to play some / quartet pieces." The truth of the matter is, this is hardly disingenuous. The recording actually sounds exactly like its description. Parker, guitarist John Russell, and bassist John Edwards ...

| | Wally Shoup Confluxus CD (2004) (Import) United Kingdom
Best Of songs
$18.69 Is anyone else under the impression that Leo Feigin replaced Ivo Perelman with Wally Shoup in his roster? Both saxophonists display the same kind of vital energy verging on the unbearably direct, and both have lined up album after album for Leo Records -- Perelman in the '90s, Shoup well on his way to do the same in the 2000s. Confluxus is significantly different than the two Wally Shoup Trio recordings between which it is sandwiched. The music is less ecstatic, more nuanced, with moments of near-silent tension and a slightly more romantic form of lyricism than what Shoup has gotten us used to. Drummer Toshi Makihara was part of the album Hurricane Floyd (with Thurston Moore), and cellist Brent Arnold is a regular member of the saxophonist's main outfit Project W. So, going into this live radio session (for Jack ...

$12.69 Jeannette Claudine Romeu is the fifth generation of her Classical and Jazz musical family. Her deep, rooted discipline came from early childhood. When Jeannette was three years old, she studied Classical piano, first with her grandmother Zenaida Romeu and later she attended Russian Music conservatories all throughout her childhood. Jeannette gave her first Baroque, classical piano concert, (Minuets from the music of Johann Sebastian Bach ) when she was four years old, and that was the time when Jeannette also learned and discovered the love for writing her own music compositions. Jeannette was also four when she started to record LIVE and sang professionally in Television with TV orchestras. These were songs she acted and performed in the Spanish, English and in the French language. The rich melange of her French / Cuban / Spanish/ Portuguese backgrounds are an intense influence in her music and unique artistic evolution. Her father Armando de Sequeira Romeu was the Jazz drummer for the "Unforgettable" Nat King Cole. He was and still is another great and very important Jazz influence in Jeannette's musical career.Jeannette Claudine also leaved in Madrid, Spain where she continued her classical piano training as well as the classical guitar. Jeannette always made good use of her many talents and made tremendous amounts ...

Best Of CD music
$24.45 Recorded in Berlin, Germany and Poschiavo, Switzerland in June & November 1999. Includes liner notes by Ulrich Stock.
Olaf Rupp is a German guitarist based in Berlin, and his singular approach to improvising on the electric guitar places him in a league with players such as Raymond Boni and Marc Ducret. While his language is as personal as Derek Bailey's, it does not yet possess the transcendental ability that the British master's does; Rupp's playing is, more often than not, an in-your-face approach to finding small unexplored or underexplored sonic nuances in the body of the instrument itself (or in his own technique), and drawing them out into the open directly and forcefully with as little space as possible between idea and execution. All but one of the tracks were ...
