| | Robert Palmer Addictions, Vol. 2 CD Robert Palmer Discography of CDs
Island's first collection of Robert Palmer hits drew upon a mix of huge hits and a well-selected group of lesser-known album cuts. The second volume also includes a number of classic Palmer hits, but he has remixed some songs here, re-recorded the vocals on others, while still more are entirely re-recorded.
ADDICTIONS Vol. 2 includes such essential Palmer dance tracks as "You Are in My System" and "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On," along with ebullient treats from his '70s records like "Best of Both Worlds" and a remix of "Every Kinda People" that succeeds especially well. Other highlights include his masterly take on Todd Rundgren's "Can We Still Be Friends," and "You're Gonna Get What's Coming," one of his best rockers. "The Silver Gun," which ends the set, is one of Palmer's most ambitious creations.
The late blue-eyed soul singer's 1992 compilation features 15 tracks including nine remixes, one remake, & one with a new vocal. Highlights include, 'Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley' (Remix) & 'She Makes My Day'. Island.

Addictions, Vol. 2 album
$10.59 Along with J.J. Cale's debut NATURALLY and his sophomore release REALLY, OKIE completely laid the groundwork for everything Cale was to do in the decades following its release. The songs are all sturdily built, lyrically succinct, utilize the barest minimum of chords, and are powered by infectious and slinky laid-back grooves. In lesser hands this approach could be indulgent or boring, but Cale is a master songsmith. The almost offhand ease of his music belies the high level of artistry involved.

| | Kelly Clarkson Thankful CD (2003)
Addictions, Vol. 2 CD music
$8.99 "Miss Independent" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Coming off being voted the overall winner of the AMERICAN IDOL TV competition, Kelly Clarkson had big expectations to meet once she hit the studio to record her debut. Luckily, it was one of those few instances where the general public threw their lot in with a genuine talent and as a result, THANKFUL turns out to be solid demonstration of Kelly's wide-ranging abilities. Pop guru Clive Davis oversees the proceedings from his executive producer perch and on the Mariah-like opener "The Trouble With Love Is" and the gospel-flavored Diane Warren-penned power ballad "Some Kind of Miracle," you can hear what Davis gleaned from working with prima divas like Whitney Houston.
The grande dame of reality TV also shows off her compositional skills on collaborations with fellow teen idol Christina Aguilera (a hard-edged "Miss Independent") and R&B smoothie Babyface (the soulful title t

| | Call And Response Tiger Teeth CD (2004)
Addictions, Vol. 2 music CDs
$6.69 The six songs on Call & Response's Tiger Teeth EP were cut as demos for Emperor Norton in 2002. The group never got a response from the label and when their contract with them ran out, the band owned the masters. By then they had moved on to the more pastoral and mellow sounds of 2004's Winds Take No Shape and the recordings were anachronistic. In 2004 Badman decided the songs should be given an airing and fans of the band should be overjoyed. The songs are more mature and organic sounding than the group's first album but they retain much of the bounce that had disappeared by the time of Winds. Songs like "Tiger Teeth," "Little Noises" and "Connection" bubble and groove as well as anything on the debut. Only the introspective "Curves in a Straight Line" shows any indication of the direction the band would be taking. Although the songs sound slightly unfinished at times, Tiger Teeth is an important and enjoyable release from one of the most enjoyable indie pop bands around. ~ Tim Sendra
