Irons in the Fire album by Teena Marie was released Jan 28, 2003 on the Motown (Record Label) label. With her third album, Irons in the Fire, Teena Marie did something that was rare for a female R&B artist -- she handled all of the producing and writing herself. Marie took on a lot of responsibility, and she knew she had done the right thing when the album became both a commercial and artistic triumph. By now, it was common knowledge that Marie was white, something that didn't seem to matter much to the many black R&B fans who bought this recording. Like so much of her work, the irresistible single "I Need Your Lovin'" became a major R&B hit, but didn't do much on pop radio. Interestingly, Marie was having the same problem as Maze & Frankie Beverly in that she could have a gold album without any help from pop audiences. But then, she obviously realized that she didn't need their support in order to be legit. another sleeper
this album has it all from mellow madness,Young Love,Tune in Tommorrow.To the alluring You Make Love Like Springtime.Exceptional.Teena Marie's voice is so versatile.As big a fan as I was back in the day.It is only now that I can sit back and truly appreciate the true magnitude of her voice.Don't miss

Spectacular!
Teena Marie has NEVER truely gotton her due.She can sure funk it up with the best of 'em such as on "First Class Love" and she is truely a KICKIN' jazz vocalist on "Tune In Tomorrow".In fact 'Irons Of Fire' proves there is very little this powerhouse cannot do!

teena at her finest hour
if you want good olde school soul. you can't miss with this r&b classic. she shines through on all the tracks. from "you make love like spring time" to "young love". if you like teena marie this has to be in your collection. nathan.

All Gems
Like the main review said, everything on this album/c.d. is a gem. Just lovely, lovely stuff. Lady Tee. never became a "crossover/pop" sensation becuase she chose to stay "in the tradition". Just sorely, sorely missed. Yet, I thank The Universe that I was alive when she came this way. A genuine R&B artist regardless of color.
