MUSIC won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Recording Package. The album was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. "Music" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award in the categories of Record Of The Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
MUSIC is international pop star Madonna's 12th release and features "Music" and extra tracks "Cyberraga" and "American Pie."
With MUSIC, Madonna expands upon the electronic advances made on her previous album, RAY OF LIGHT. RAY producer William Orbit is back on board, joined by French artiste electronique Mirwais Ahmadzai. Both men aid Madonna in pursuing ever more sophisticated electronic soundscapes. The accent here is squarely on club-oriented dance music, as propulsive electronic beats and percolating synthesizers power such pure-pop confections as the title tune and "Runaway Lover." Even Madonna's voice undergoes a fair amount of electronic modification, as on the moody "Nobody's Perfect" which bears a hook that hinges on the same vocoder effect that endeared millions to Cher's "Believe."
There's another side to MUSIC, though. While Orbit and Ahmadzai maintain the sonic thread of loops and samples throughout the album, several songs leave the party atmosphere behind in favor of a more melancholy, balladic approach. "I Deserve It," "Gone," and "Don't Tell Me" are pushed along by drum loops, but are based around acoustic guitar, and it's easy to imagine them being performed effectively with nothing more than guitar and voice. While MUSIC pushes Madonna into the future, it allows her to arrive in her new surroundings with the full emotional range of her vision intact.
Australian exclusive pressing features 2 bonus tracks, 'Amer ican Pie' & 'Cyberagga' plus the following tracks, 'Music', 'Impressive Talent', 'Runaway Lover', 'I Deserve It', 'Amazi ng', 'Nobody's Perfect', 'Don't Tell Me', 'What It Feels Lik e For A Girl, 'Paradise (Not For Me)' & 'Gone'. 12 tracks in all. 2000 release. Standard jewelcase.
CD contains 2 bonus tracks.
Recorded at Sarm East and Sarm West, London, England; Guerilla Beach, Los Angeles, California; The Hit Factory, New York, New York.
Producers: Mirwais Ahmadzai, William Orbit, Guy Sigworth, Mark "Spike" Stent, Talvin Singh.

Music album
$8.49 "Baby One More Time" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
BABY ONE MORE TIME is an Enhanced CD containing a full audio program as well as multimedia computer files.
Jimmy Bradlower (drum programming); Nana Hedin, Jeanette Soderholm, Anders Von Hoffsten, Andreas Carlson, Aleese Simmons, Andrew Fromm, Nikki Gregoroff (background vocals).
Britney Spears takes her rightful place among bubble gum pop icons at the turn of the millennium with BABY ONE MORE TIME. Earlier known for her part in Disney's revamped "Mickey Mouse Club," Britney successfully turned singer at a mere 16 years of age. She navigates the choppy waters of young love with style, passion and lots of fun. She's got all the charm of '80s forebears like Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, coupled with a hip '90s edge.
With sweet nylon guitar work reminiscent of Richard Marx productions, "Sometimes" warns a potential love of her need for time and patience, rolling along nicely with a slow groove and a big beat. The Jets' gem "You've Got It All" shines brightly as ever with Britney's girlish allure. Take note, however, that Britney's not all bubbles--with an obvious influence from Mariah Carey, she glides quite ably through the key changes and delivers octave leaps and vibratos that should melt just about any heart, young or old.
Recorded at Cheiron Studios, Stockholm, Sweden; 4MW East and Battery Studios, New York, New York.
Personnel: Britney Spears (vocals); Mickie Bassie (vocals, keyboards, bass); Don Philip (vocals); Esbjorn Ohrwall, Dan Petty (acoustic & electric guitars); Eric Foster White (guitar, keyboards, bass, drum programming); Johan Carlberg, Andrew McIntyre (guitar); Max Martin (keyboards, programming, background vocals); Per Magnusson, David Kreuger, Kristian Lundin (keyboards, programming); Doug Petty (keyboards); Tomas Lindberg, Andy Hess (bass);

$8.99 OOPS!... I DID IT AGAIN was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. "Oops!...I Did It Again" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
This second album by the former Mouseketeer turned nymphet heartthrob breaks little new ground compared to BABY ONE MORE TIME. The formula here remains, deliberately, the same: a candy-colored mix of Eurodance, hip-hop, and old-fashioned pop ballads. As before, the lyrics split the difference between "Baby, I love you so bad," as in "Can't Make You Love Me," and "Sorry, I think of you just as a friend," in the title song.
There are also some genuinely amusing moments, as in the conversational finale of "Oops!" in which Britney, after being informed that her boyfriend has recovered the jewel the old lady dropped into the ocean at the end of the TITANIC movie, replies "Oh, you shouldn't have." Most of the stuff here is, of course, transparently disposable pop, but to give Spears her due, she's a far, far better singer than any of the mall-rat pop stars of the late '80s.
Engineers include: John Amatiello, Harvey Mason, Jr., Rodney Jerkins.

| | Backstreet Boys Black & Blue CD (2000)
Music music CDs
$8.29 "Shape Of My Heart" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
The title of this album by the mega-platinum boy band might conceivably refer to the emotional state conveyed in some of the songs. While there are the requisite pledges of undying love ("Shining Star," "I Promise You"), several of the tunes on BLACK & BLUE deal with romantic turbulence, such as the opening track "The Call" and the vengeful "Get Another Boyfriend." While some of the songs are unsurprisingly provided by teen pop maestro Max Martin, several selections here were written by the Backstreet Boys themselves, proving conclusively that they have more creative input into their music than their naysayers might suggest. The production on BLACK & BLUE is a mix of pop, R&B, and mainstream hip-hop elements; the building blocks of any successful 2000 teen pop affair. And of course, its all topped off with the Boys' trademark sugar-sweet vocal harmonies.
Additional personnel includes: Rodney Jerkins (various instruments); Tony Battaglia (acoustic guitar); Henrik Janson, Esbjorn Ohrwall, Peter Svensson, Max Martin, Michael Thompson (guitar); Per Magnusson (keyboards, programming); Nathan East, Thomas Lindberg (bass); Gustave Lund (percussion); Babyface (background vocals); Stockholm Session Strings.

| | Metallica Load CD (1996)
Music songs
$15.09 The kings of speed metal have never been keen on being labeled, and LOAD, which follows up the 1991 mega-hit METALLICA, is a surprising pastiche of sonic fury. Metallica still rocks hard. James Hetfield's lyrics are still full of venom and anger, and the music still could scare small children. But the band is ready to show off other sides of its craft. "Hero Of The Day" sounds like an R.E.M. song, albeit a heavy one, with its tender beginning and ending confluence of harmonized vocals and catchy guitar riffs. A dose of the blues can be heard in the slow-burning "Bleeding Me," and a downright country twang pervades "Mama Said."
Still, this is a metal album, and there are headbanging riffs o'plenty. LOAD may seem like a departure from the Metallica "norm," but it's actually what the band has been doing all along: writing well-crafted songs without a regard for what others think. The only difference is that the one-time denizens of the underground now have the world's rapt attention.

| | Metallica Reload CD (1997)
Music album
$14.29 "Fuel" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. "Better Than You" won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
When Metallica recorded 1996's LOAD, the studio sessions were fruitful enough for the band to put out two records. A year and a half later, RELOAD is the inevitable follow-up. Stretching beyond Metallica's speed metal roots, RELOAD is a continuation of the experimentation that dismayed many old fans and welcomed in many new ones. As a result, many Metallica firsts are reached on their eighth album. Some anomalies include recruiting the legendary Marianne Faithfull to contribute backing vocals on "The Memory Remains" and the addition of hurdy-gurdy and violin to the mix of the wistful "Low Man's Lyric." Throughout all this experimentation, Metallica still plays hard and fast, particularly on the metal groove of "Fuel" and the relentless pounding of "Where The Wild Things Are," (a title borrowed from children's author Maurice Sendak). Metallica continues to reinvent itself in a genre where mediocrity is always just around the corner.
Recorded at The Plant Studios, Sausilto, California between May 1995 and February 1996 and from July to October 1997.
Producers: Bob Rock, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich.
Metallica: James Hetfield (vocals, guitar); Kirk Hammett (guitar); Jason Newsted (bass); Lars Ulrich (drums).

| | Flower Kings Alive On Planet Earth CDs (2000)
Music music CDs
$17.49 Alive on Planet Earth is the first live album from one of the most popular progressive rock acts of the 1990s: the Flower Kings. Disc one was recorded in September 1998 in Chapel Hill, NC, and Quebec City, Quebec (Canada); disc two presents excerpts of shows in Tokyo and Osaka (Japan) in March 1999. Both tours were supporting the release of Stardust We Are and the music is taken from every record of the band up to and including that one. The album opens with the positive anthem "There Is More to This World" from Retropolis; another song from Retropolis, "The Judas Kiss," is later given an extended treatment approaching 16 minutes in length. Three tracks from the two-CD set Stardust We Are are also delivered: "Church of Your Heart," "Stardust We Are" (the last ten minutes), and a very powerful rendition of "In the Eyes of the World," one of the highlights of this live set. Another strong moment is the complex "Big Puzzle," representing Back in the World of Adventures, while "The Flower King," a usual show-closer, arches back to the band's first album. Keyboardist Tomas Bodin has his moment to shine on "Three Stories" (from his solo album). Fans will mainly be interested in the band's heretofore unrecorded version of Genesis' "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway." Sadly, the Flower Kings' live show didn't include material from guitarist Roine Stolt's beautiful solo CD Hydrophonia but, this point aside, Alive on Planet Earth is a very satisfying live album. Fans of the band won't find much new material here, but the feeling of the Flower Kings' energetic and emotional show is nicely conveyed by this set. The sound quality is very good and the album is packaged with beautiful artwork. ~ François Couture
Recorded live at ProgDay, Chappel Hill, North Carolina on September 6, 1998 and Club Quatro, Osaka, Japan on March 18, 1999.
The Flower Kings: Hans Froberg (vocals, acoustic, electric & slide guitar); Roine Stolt (vocals, guitar); Michael Stolt (vocals, bass, bass synthesizer); Jaime Salazar (vocals, drums, percussion); Robert Engstrand, Tomas Bodin (keyboards).

| | Robert Palmer Live At The Apollo CD (1988)
Music songs
$11.79 Robert Palmer concluded six months of touring (most of it in North America, with one month in Japan) in 2000 with the December 15 date at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater recorded for this album. Fronting a six-piece band and accompanied by backup singer B.J. Nelson, he performed a set heavy on his hit material from the second half of the 1980s -- starting with the Power Station's "Some Like It Hot" and including his own most popular songs "Addicted to Love," "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On," and "Simply Irresistible." Anyone hoping for earlier tunes had to be satisfied with three items from 1980's Clues, the near-title track "Looking for Clues," "Woke Up Laughing," and the influential "Johnny & Mary," which, Palmer said, "was a big hit for me in Guatemala, believe it or not." Otherwise, the non-single selections mostly came from the million-sellers Riptide (1985) and Heavy Nova (1988), with nothing at all from less-popular later albums Don't Explain (1990), Ridin' High (1992), and Honey (1994). In other words, this was a set that took no risks, and the efficient band played it in an equally risk-free manner. The large fan base Palmer had picked up in the mid-'80s had reason to be satisfied, but anyone who had known the singer during his earlier, more exploratory period, or after he had returned to trying different things in the '90s, would be disappointed. At this point in his career, having left major-label status behind some years back, Palmer seemed to be playing to his commercial strengths on this tour, but, like the music that gave him his biggest hits, the results could be bloodless and mechanical. ~ William Ruhlmann
Recorded live at The Apollo, New York, New York.
Personnel: B.J. Nelson (vocals); Eddie Martinez (guitar); David Rosenthal, Alan Mansfield (keyboards); Donny Wynn (drums); Brie Howard (percussion).
Liner Note Author: Robert Palmer.

| | Motorhead On Parole CD (1980) Import
Music album
$14.29 Along with such bands as the Who, the Sex Pistols, and the Stooges, legendary British heavy metal outfit Motorhead have been the subject of numerous collections of rarities over the years. Often the same songs are repackaged under different album titles (usually without the band having any involvement whatsoever).
But Motorhead's 1979 release, ON PAROLE, was the very first such collection in a soon to be long line. The 1997 CD reissue beefed up the tracklisting to a total of 13 tracks (originally ON PAROLE was only nine tracks long), highlights being the early anthem "Motorhead," plus "Watcher," "Iron Horse/Born to Lose," "Lost Johnny," and "Leaving Here." Although the material has been made available many times in different configurations over the years, ON PAROLE is still a highly effective collection of uncommon early Motorhead tracks.
Import exclusive compilation for the notorious metal act features 13 tracks including 4 alternate tracks, 'On Parole' (Alt. Take), 'City Kids' (Alt. Take), 'Motorhead' (Alt. Take), & 'Leaving Here' (Alt. Take). Highlights include, 'Motorhead', 'On Parole', 'Iron Horse/Born To Lose', 'Vibrator', "Leaving Here', & more. Disky. 2003.
Recorded at Rockfield Studios, Monmouth, Wales.
Personnel: Lemmy (vocals, bass); Larry Wallis (guitar); Phil Taylor (drums).
| | Jamey Hampton Chasing Daylight CD (2004)
Music CD music
$8.55 Hi there, and welcome. Here's what I'm up to:I live in Portland, I've played music since I was hit by a bolt of lightning in high school. That lightning was in the form of Hendrix, Crosby Stills & Nash, the Doors, Creedence...you know, what they call "classic rock" now. I've spent most of my life traveling the world with various modern dance companies, and run one now called BodyVox ( bodyvox ). You might wonder what that has to do with music: well, I got to choreograph videos and stage shows for David Bowie, Sting, U2, John Fogerty, Soundgarden, Pat Metheny...and that was a hell of a lot of fun. After writing my own songs for 20 years, in 1999 I decided to make an album. Realize the dream, if you will. I wrote and recorded "Throw Caution". I loved making it, and once you have the bug, man you're hooked. When I had a new batch of songs, I hunkered down and made the second one. This is it. With "Chasing Daylight", I decided to play all the guitars myself. Call it an attempt at greater integrity. I used the same rhythm section, because they're the best in Portland, for my music. I wanted the album to be beautiful, and to be driving as well. I think it came out really beautifully. Listen to a clip or 2, or all of them, and see what you think for yourself. If you like it, buy it. What a concept! It'll grow on you, I guarantee it. By the way, you'll notice I wrote this bio in first person. You know, I'm sick of these press releases and bios that are written in third person, as if some greater authority is telling you what you ought to think about The Band. They're all written by the band anyway, so why don't we just drop the veil and see the real Wizard of Oz at work here. Hey...Enjoy!Jamey
