| a very good comeback by Blackmore this album is pretty good for a comeback for Ritchie especially after the commerical failure of Down to Earth. this album intorduces Joe Lynn turner and the new mellow and soft side of Rainbow. " I surrender" is the hit of this album and the band gained popularity after the release of the single. also, Beethoven's Ode to joy is is instrumentally covered in a way that would drive you crazy. a must for guitar freaks and lovers!! | One of the Best bands ever This album is great!!!! Joe Lynn Turner and Ritchie Blackmore blend so well together. From the opening song Spotlight Kid this album is powerful. Defenitily one of their best releases ever. Ritchie where are you when the rock music world need you now. By res0hbdu (Hobart, IN, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Commercial? Don't be so sure. This is not the Rainbow sound from "Rising," granted; it should be judged on its own merits, though. The musicianship is outstanding and the variety is pleasing. Ritchie's Stratocaster dominates throughout, and Joe Lynn Turner's talents are well-suited to the task. The five stars are justified. | Classic Rock Anyone who doesn't enjoy this album, ain't into classic rock and roll! This is a gem that will definitly get ya feet tapping and head rockin'. If nothing moves, you're more than likely dead. A must have for serious rockers! By Phil (Down Under) This review is for a different format. |
| Difficult to enjoy. This LP certainly isn't a "Rising" star. Ideas in the Blackmore's Rainbow camp had well and truely dried up and the commercial sisters had dug their claws into the band. The single "I surrender" wasn't bad I suppose, but it certainly wasn't of the high standard we enjoyed on earlier Rainbow albums. All in all this recording is best avoided.
