Each Indeep album is avoidable for the percentage of filler, so Collection, released on Unidisc in 1991, is all you need -- unless you're a DJ desperate to expose some buried album cut that no one else paid attention to. This has everything you'd expect and more, including the number two club single "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life," "When Boys Talk" (number 16 club), "The Record Keeps Spinning" (number 32 club), and "Buffalo Bill" (number 81 black singles). Apart from the chart hits, there's nothing too memorable, and most of those cuts are either hampered by cloning attempts (the sub-Prince of "You Got to Rock It," for instance) or the kind of tacky saxophone soloing heard in too much mid-'80s pop. Still, there's no mistaking the fact that "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" is an essential '80s dance track and should be obtained in some form. You might be better off hunting it down on a various-artists compilation. ~ Andy Kellman

History:Who knew that 5 people who share the same passion in music would cross each others paths? Billy Graziadei of Biohazard has been producing bands from many different parts of the world for the past several years. While producing the Groovenics record, Singer Karl Bernholtz and Billy found that they shared many common musical interests and soon Suicide City was born. Suicide City then hooked up with New York based drummer Dan Lamagna and Groovenics/Ghost Fight guitarist AJ Marchetta. Shortly after, Billy joined forces with Kittie bassist Jennifer Arroyo which solidified SUICIDE CITY.In a world engulfed by corruption, hatred, injustice and an overwhelming lack of originality there are a few places where only the polar opposites lurk. One of these scarce locations is set in a city, a place built of creativity, originality and uncut energy. This place is simply known as Suicide City. Defined by the band members as dark, turbulent, romantic, and despair SC has already found itself a home in my heart.It has taken roughly 24 hours before I could even gather the words properly together to describe the intensity of Suicide City. Even now I have little faith that this review can truly express just a pulse of their energy.The stage is set; the location is The Saint night club in Asbury Park NJ.
