(2 Customer Reviews)
Following their move to Portland, Oregon, Floater released their third full-length record, "Angels in the Flesh and Devils in the Bone." Returning to their strength for creating concept albums, "Angel's" brought a new vibe to Floater. It wasn't long before widespread audiences came to embrace what has now become the band's trademark - their versatility. Working with Bill Barnett at Gung Ho Studios (Tori Amos, Cherry Poppin' Daddies) and Drew Canulette (Soundgarden, Nirvana, Mudhoney), Floater takes a more "rock opera" approach with this album and comes out with a powerful blend of music and lyrics.
Recording information: Gung-Ho Studios.
Floater: Robert Wynia (vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, synthesizer, bass); David Amador (acoustic & electric guitars); Peter Cornett (acoustic guitar, drums, percussion, background vocals).
Audio Mixer: Drew Canulette.

Angels In The Flesh And Devils In The Bone album
$9.09 Talk Talk presents SIDES & B SIDES, their limited edition U.K. release, featuring 28 tracks including "It's My Life" and "My Foolish Friend."
Asides Besides can certainly be seen as a cash-in release to coincide with Mark Hollis' first solo release and the reissue of Talk Talk's EMI catalog, but rarely does such a calculated industry move result in such a treat for fans. Over two discs, Asides Besides essentially ties up all of the loose ends for the band. Disc one is probably the least essential, bringing out all of the 12" remixes, which are of marginal interest, though all are superior to those found on the unauthorized History Revisited. Disc two however, reveals no shortage of prime rarities beginning with three demos from 1981 ("Talk Talk," "Mirror Man" and "Candy"). A handful of singles are included -- the not-so-rare single, "My Foolish Friend," the ...

This is an album that grows on you gradually -- but only because it covers such a diverse collection of styles in the course of seventy minutes. The majority of the cuts on this album are being released for the first time, while all but one (the Kingston ...

Angels In The Flesh And Devils In The Bone songs
$10.29 Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter: Jesse Sykes (vocals); Phil Wandscher (guitar); Anne-Marie Ruljancich (violin); Bill Herzog (stand-up bass); Kevin Warner (drums).
Taking what talents they've garnered from previous bands such as Hominy and Whiskeytown, lead singer Jesse Sykes and guitarist Phil Wandscher are onto something far bigger than the two could have foreseen. The opening title track lends itself as much to Margo Timmins as it does to a latter-day Lucinda Williams à la "Lonely Girls" in its almost morose tempo and arrangements, making the nearly seven-minute song glide along effortlessly and, to the listener, ...

Angels In The Flesh And Devils In The Bone album
$12.65 Calling all XTC fans! Is two LPs a decade too little? Here's a humble protégé snack to wile away those in between-meals. This New Jersey band is actually one Howard Herrick, whose sunny-pop confections, and especially the baroque hiccup of his straining high voice, are replicas of Andy Partridge's work in the early-to-mid '80s. It recalls singles such as "Senses Working Overtime," "Love on a Farmboy's Wages," and "All You Pretty Girls." Like that English Settlement/Mummer/Big Express blueprint, Herrick's not energized enough to be new wave, nor '60s enough to be retro, but lies somewhere in that middle place, where shy lads sing like chirping birds at all the elegance and sobriety life throws. Perhaps the production is lower-budget than that of his hero's work, but there's minor, fresh-faced appeal. ~ Jack Rabid

Angels In The Flesh And Devils In The Bone music CDs
$9.75 "Just over a year after the release of her impressive debut, Singing Solo, Sarah Reed returns with the "difficult" second album which she makes seem like an enviably easy task. The sparse, somewhat delicate, acoustic nature of its predecessor has made way for bigger and more imaginative arrangements, which in turn make the album work on a greater number of levels. Even the ...
