| | Marc Anthony Valio La Pena CD (2004)
Criollo Con La Motivacion album
$9.99 The result is a short, spirited record, completely different from its predecessor. The biggest change comes on the duet "Escapemonos" (performed with Jennifer Lopez), where Anthony augments the former ballad with horns and a funky Latin beat. Anthony has always been a Renaissance man, juggling an acting career with his multifaceted recording legacy, but, on VALIO LA PENA, he truly reveals his inventive nature.
Throughout his career, Marc Anthony has moved between his love for salsa and his passion for romantic pop. His first 2004 release, AMAR SIN MENTIRAS, drifted distinctly to the lighter side of Anthony's aesthetic, as he filled the air around him with deeply seductive torch songs. For a follow-up, released only months later, Anthony takes the title of the most salsa-fied tune from AMAR SIN MENTIRAS, "Valio Lo Pena," and reinvents six more songs from that album with a swifter beat, adding an eighth song--the slower, traditional "Lamento Boricano."
Personnel: Marc Anthony (vocals); Jennifer Lopez (vocals); Bernd Schoenhart (acoustic guitar); Luis Aquino (trumpet); Sergio George (piano, keyboards, background vocals); Alex Duque (bass instrument); Diego Galé (congas, bongos, bata); Robert Vilera (bata, timbales); Kevin Ricard (bata).

| | Bull Harman & Bull's Eye Rosewood, Spruce & Ebony CD (2004)
Criollo Con La Motivacion songs
$14.79 A strong rhythm and lead acoustic guitar player yet with enough individuality to make him unique in a style all of his own would best describe Bull Harman. Raised in a family that centered on bluegrass, Bull began playing the guitar at the age of 12 and along with his sister Lori on bass and his brother Mike on banjo they formed "The Harman Trio". They traveled all across the Midwest and won several contests as individuals and as a band. Bull grew up loving and respecting his musical talent. They recorded their first album in 1977 entitled "A Little Bluegrass and a Lotta Bull." After the marriage of his brother Mike, they added his wife Stacy to the band and became "The Harman Family". Along with this change came another album entitled "Warmin Up". Bull was married in 1982 and his wife Tammy also joined the band, coming from a musical family herself. Thus came their third album, all gospel, entitled "Our Sunday Best." Bull has traveled with his family for the past 20 years performing at festivals, fairs, picnics and church functions. The Harman Family performs annually to a sell out crowd at LCCC in Godfrey, Illinois and are well known through out the Midwest bluegrass circuit. 1996 - 1998 found Bull traveling and performing with Rhonda Vincent and The Rage. Their performances included several appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree, Nashville's Famous Station Inn, IBMA Awards Show, Silver Dollar City and numerous festivals and fairs from Florida to Colorado. Bull's quick humor and wittiness make him an asset to any band he performs with. He is an accomplished songwriter and has his own publishing company through BMI called "Bullmeister Melodies" His first solo recording project is titled "Bull's Eye" and contains 7 of his original tunes. Guests include many of Bull's family and friends, including Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent, Tina Adair, Keith Adair, Bob Black, Rob McDonnell, Kevin Liley, Cecil Tinnon, Kirk Brandenberger, "4 Sisters and A Cousin" and of course the Harman Family. This CD contains every type of music that showcases the talent that Bull has. Hard driving, easy flowing, traditional, contemporary and uniqueness are the words that would best describe what you will hear on his first solo project. Respect and dedication to the instrument he plays are what you will feel. His second release "Rosewood, Spruce & Ebony", once again puts Bull Harman in the spotlight. This project seems more focused with Harman in full control of the ride. Guests include Carl Jackson, Gena Britt, Jeremy Chapman, Valerie Smith, Rhonda Vincent, Bo Jamison, Randy Kohrs, Ned Luberecki, and the Bull's Eye Band he currently tours with, featuring Tammy Harman, Robin Roller and Cecil Tinnon. "As a guitarist, composer and songwriter, Bull Harman stands alone. He is not a clone. He is not an imitator. He is a singularly outstanding guitar genius who hears music in a way that is totally unique to him and what you get in return are signature songs done Bull's way. Anyone who fails to get the "Bull's Eye" will eventually discover that they've missed the bluegrass target entirely this year" Wayne Bledsoe - Bluegrass Now
Personnel: Mickey Harris (vocals, bass guitar); Bo Jamison, Tammy Harman, Stacy Harmon (vocals); Bull Harman (guitar); Randy Kohrs (resonator guitar); Gena Britt, Ned Luberecki, Robin Roller, Kevin Strain (banjo); Cecil Tinnon, Jeremy Chapman (mandolin); Thayne Bradford (fiddle).
| | Billy Walker Columbia Hits CD (2005)
Criollo Con La Motivacion album
$13.89 Koch's 2005 collection Columbia Hits is the first time Billy Walker's singles from the late '50s and first half the '60s have appeared on an American CD. Previously, this material was collected on Bear Family's typically exhaustive 1993 six-disc set Cross the Brazos at Waco, and listening to Koch's generous 20-track collection, it's easy to hear why Walker was given the Bear Family treatment. Walker was a countrypolitan crooner halfway between Jim Reeves and Ray Price, possessing a sweet high tenor voice that was so smooth, he made everything he sang seem easy. Perhaps a touch too easy -- Walker seems to glide through the ballads and skip through the gently rolling up-tempo numbers without ever leaving a strong impression. He was a professional through and through, working within Nashville's studio system without stamping his recordings with a strong personal identity. That resulted in quite a few hits, but not too many big ones -- only his 1962 breakthrough "Charlie's Shoes" topped the charts, with the Marty Robbins-styled cowboy tune "Cross the Brazos at Waco" reaching number two two years later. The rest of his hits -- and all the ones he had between 1957 and 1965 are collected here -- are simply good products of the Nashville system, never breaking the mold, but never being anything less than pleasant. It's solid generic music in the best sense of the word: it's thoroughly of its genre, and will appeal to anybody that enjoys the lush, relaxed sound of Music City in the early '60s. But since it is generic, it's also best to sample it on this relatively concise collection, not on the big Bear Family box. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

| | Fuel Angels & Devils CD (2007)
Criollo Con La Motivacion album
$8.99 Nearly four years after 2003's NATURAL SELECTION, Fuel finally returned with its follow-up, ANGELS & DEVILS. In the interim, the Pennsylvania-based rock band endured the departure of vocalist Brett Scallions and drummer Kevin Miller, along with a failed attempt to recruit popular AMERICAN IDOL finalist Chris Daughtry. This '07 outing finds Fuel revitalized, thanks largely to the presence of new singer Toryn Green, who tones down the neo-grunge drama in favor of a slightly subtler approach (see the mid-tempo anthem "Wasted Time"). While not a radical departure for the neo-grunge act, ANGELS does mark a significant new chapter for Fuel, and proves that it can soldier on, despite major setbacks.
Fuel (Alternative Pop/Rock): Carl Bell (guitars); Jeff Abercrombie (bass guitar); Tommy Stewart (drums); Toryn Green.
