Despite never being one of the most recognized bands on the British rock scene, Free always pleased their fans with their hard rock style. Unfortunately, their work has been over-published on compilations, and Best of Free: All Right Now does little more than most other best-ofs. Naturally, it features the hits "All Right Now" and "Fire and Water," as well as a few semi-hits, but, overall, this is just another run of the mill compilation. There are also noticeable exclusions on this release, including two highlights from the band's superb debut album, which render All Right Now somewhat below par. Quite why this was ever seen as a needed release by Island is a mystery; when there are six compilations of Free available, is it even less worthwhile. ~ Ben Davies
All Right Now Music Review Average Rating: (3 out of 5 stars) An Excellent "Meet The Band" compilation I really don't know the band's history, other than the various works that vocalist Paul Rodgers has done, including The Firm wich to this day it's a mystery to me why The Firm didn't last, but that's another story... The music in this CD is very clear in quality, the musicians play tight and the songs listed here are very easy to catch... not to say they're all radio friendly, but chances are if you are listening to Free the you know the tipe of music been done in their days... I really don't think they ever were going to set the world on fire, but they gave it a run for it's money. If you don't think of buying all or most of all Free's catalog (as i do), then this output is for you... meet the band-know somthing of the band-move allong... By the way, I also recomend ypou give it a try to Paul Rodgers "NOW & LIVE", the Live part has a very energetic set of FREE songs, very nicelly played by Paul's band... Enjoy. All Right Now album
$11.99 Recorded between 1968 & 1976. Includes liner notes by Dave Thompson.
Marc Bolan & T. Rex never troubled the pop culture radar in the US beyond one minor hit single, making them perhaps the biggest UK stars to never leave any significant stateside impression. As a result, their catalogue has rarely been properly served by US labels, with the songs that made Bolan's name remaining out of print for years at a time while UK labels large and small released every tiny scrap of rehearsal tape, often multiple times.

| | Susan Boyle I Dreamed A Dream CD (2009)
All Right Now music CDs
$9.55 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. Plus, a large part of Boyle's appeal is that she's a middle-aged woman recalling a bygone era when there were singers that appealed to an adult audience by offering soft, stately versions of pop hits and standards. That time was the late `60s and early `70s, and apart from a rather faithful version of Madonna's "You'll See," I Dreamed a Dream could very well have been released all those years ago, as it mixes up the show tunes, gospel, and Christmas carols with covers of Skeeter Davis' "The End of the World," the Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses," and a version of "Daydream Believer" that is easily the slowest on record. Boyle sings beautifully throughout, delivering more of the same of what she did in her moment in the sun on television. Those won over by Boyle, ...
| | Jimmy Buffett Buffet Hotel CD (2009)
All Right Now songs
$9.74 Since Jimmy Buffett never leaves his comfort zone, it's hard to call 2009's Buffet Hotel a return to roots but, in a way, it is. Discounting the mock rap on "Turn Up the Heat and Chill the Rosé," this album doesn't even have the lingering country and reggae flavors that seasoned 2006's Take the Weather with You, with all of the songs riding a cool, mellow country-rock wave, the kind that has been his stock-in-trade since the `70s. There's a difference between being part of a tradition and being stuck in the past and Buffett is surely in the former, not shying away from the new millennial mess, admitting that we all have "A Lot to Drink About" and never flinching from his advancing years, most movingly on a cover of Bruce Cockburn's "Life's Short Call Now." Cockburn's song is paired with another expertly chosen cover, Jesse Winchester's "Rhumba Man" (he covered Winchester's ...
| | Pink Funhouse CD (2008) Explicit
All Right Now album
$8.99 Pink's insistently hooky, attitude-filled pop-rock has kept the singer a fixture on the radio and on singles charts since the early 2000s. The artist's fifth effort, FUNHOUSE, doesn't tamper with the formula: Pink's powerhouse vocals and in-your-face approach, backed by stadium-sized production, are in full effect on all 12 tracks. Even though the album deals primarily with aftermath of her divorce and includes serious moments of self-confrontation like "Sober," fans needn't ...
| | Mark Knopfler Get Lucky CD (2009)
All Right Now CD music
$15.65 With the release of GET LUCKY, Mark Knopfler has made as many solo studio albums as he made group studio albums with Dire Straits, which itself may be a signal that it's time to stop comparing his two careers and simply accept them as separate entities. Of course, since Knopfler was the lead singer, chief instrumentalist, and songwriter for Dire Straits, there are obvious similarities, even if he has taken a deliberately different path as a solo artist. Basically, he's a lot quieter. "Border Reiver," the first song here, begins with a ...
