| | Nancy Lamott Live At Tavern On The Green CD (2005)
My Foolish Heart
$13.15 MIDDER Music Records is thrilled to announce the release of a brand new Nancy LaMott CD, Nancy LaMott - Live at Tavern on the Green, the first new Nancy LaMott release in 8 years. Recorded live at Nancy s last engagement at Tavern on the Green, just seven weeks before her untimely death, this CD is filled with radiant, joyful, gorgeously sung performances, as well as charming, funny, often-touching patter. Featuring some of your favorite Nancy LaMott standards plus many songs you ve never heard her sing on CD before, this CD captures, for all time, the magic that was Nancy Live.
Personnel: Nancy LaMott (vocals); Steve LaSpina (bass instrument); Christopher Marlowe (piano); John Redsecker (drums). Recording information: Tavern On The Green, New York, NY (12/1995). Arranger: Christopher Marlowe . There's a very good reason that the sticker on this lovely cabaret-styled live concert date is billed as the singer's "first new release in eight years" -- she died of cancer in December, 1995, just weeks after the performance documented here. The release of this ...

| | Ella Mae Morse Dynamite Texas Diva-Live CD (2003)
My Foolish Heart
$13.89 Recorded between 1942 & 1944. Ella Mae Morse, the queen of boogie-woogie pop, doesn't have a lot of material available, making this collection of war-era transcriptions slightly more interesting to fans of vocal pop than it would be normally. The disc collects 19 live performances, most with the AFRS Orchestra, of Morse's hits and a few rarities (including a few she never recorded commercially). Her biggest hit, "Cow Cow Boogie," appears twice, first in 1942 backed by the Freddie Slack Orchestra (with whom she recorded the hit), the second two years ...
| | Johnny Cash My Mother's Hymn Book CD (2004)
My Foolish Heart
$15.65 LTD.Ed.Solo Acoustic Spiritual Album From The "Unearthed" Box
Personnel: Johnny Cash (vocals). Includes liner notes by Johnny Cash and Sylvie Simmons. Originally included as part of the exhaustive Unearthed box set of Johnny Cash's American Records recordings, My Mother's Hymn Book is exactly what it claims to be -- songs directly out of Cash's mother's old hymnal. Featuring Cash alone playing an acoustic guitar, this is a stark, beautiful, and simple album. In the liner notes, Cash calls this his favorite record he's ever made and it's clear that learning these songs as a child is what inspired his love of music. In that sense, despite no original material, these are some of the most personal songs Cash ever recorded; he even includes song-by-song commentaries that help illuminate what each track meant to him. For Merle Travis' "I Am a Pilgrim" Cash writes, "It's one of those old country gospel classics that my mother sang, that I knew I would record it someday." Of course, Cash recorded gospel songs before this album, as in 1959 with Hymns by Johnny Cash and again in 1962 with Hymns From the Heart and he usually included one gospel track per album. Never before though had he focused so purely on his Christian roots, and given what is known about his problems with drug abuse and the break-up of his first marriage, these songs seem to ring with the conflicts of joy and sorrow, guilt and redemption. Although technically not Cash's last recording, My Mother's Hymn Book represents where his musical career began and ultimately where it ended. ~ Matt Collar Previously released as the fourth disc in the UNEARTHED box set, MY MOTHER'S HYMN BOOK, like the lauded AMERICAN RECORDINGS album, features only two instruments--Johnny Cash's acoustic guitar and his unmistakable baritone ...

| | Professional Americans CD (2006)
My Foolish Heart
$8.39 This final release from The Professional Americans is a four-song showcase of the band’s pop sensibility delivered with some clever production from producer CJ Eiriksson (Fiona Apple, Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin). The compact EP was recorded in only 2 days, and was a blur of melody, beats, and bass lines. The quick recording process reflected the short, driving songs that were building the band’s fanbase throughout the Midwest. The EP begins with the boisterous, fist-pounding anthem “All We Have to Do.” “The song is a call for ...
